Daigo Dojima is so beautiful. He holds a beauty that transcends physical attractiveness. A charm that spoke to Mine on a deep level. Enough to make him want to live. Not just survive, but live. Thank God he exists. Thank God he met him. And thank God he’s here, because Mine wouldn’t deal with all this bullshit if it wasn’t for his sake as well as the sake of his beloved clan. He knows he told his chairman not to worry, that he was taking care of everything, but he would love to have him here with him.

Summary
But as Daigo flips through the pictures, something catches his eye. One of them features a woman. Though she is not the center of attention of the photograph, she is looking right at the camera and appears to be laughing. Daigo-san’s voice becomes distant, his words barely registering to Mine. He just stares at her as she laughs, happiness dancing in her bright eyes. Seeing her position in the picture, she seems to be seated next to the chairman. When he flips to the next one, he sees her again, though her face is half out of frame, he recognizes her clothes.
“Who is that?” The question comes out before he can even think about it.
“That’s still Kouji-san.”
“No, not her. Her.” Mine clarifies, pointing to the corner of the picture where the woman is half hidden.
“Hm? Oh, I suppose I never told you about her, huh? That’s Emiko, my girlfriend.”

During one of their usual outings, Mine discovers that Daigo-san has a girlfriend. The shocking discovery is very hard to accept, mostly because he doesn't know anything about that woman and is concerned about his chairman's safety. There's probably no other reason why he hates her so much without even knowing her.

Summary
One night after their regular drinking at their usual place, Chairman Dojima tells Mine he wants to go to a club. Mine follows him, not wanting to leave him alone when he's already had enough to drink. It doesn't prevent him from drinking even more. When a stranger tries to take advantage of it, Mine has enough. He takes his chairman to his car to drive him home, safe and sound.
That is what he wants to do but things get complicated when he notices his chairman's condition.

Summary
The Tojo headquarters are always busy, today more than usual with all the patriarchs gathered in the same location. Daigo takes his arm and Mine leads him through the building. Their chat is easy, comfortable, lively. There's no one else with whom he can be so open. No one else has the wits to make him laugh. Mine almost forgets where they are. Until they've crossed the courtyard and stop in front of the car. He gets the door for his chairman and even offers his hand to help him into his car, which he accepts with an amused smile.
But as the wonderful Sixth Chairman of the Tojo climbs into his armored car, Mine's ears start burning.
"Keh. Did you see that?"

There is nothing Mine wouldn't do to protect Daigo. He would shield him from any kind of harm. So when he overhears some Tojo men talking shit about him and mocking him, he decides to take matters into his own hands. His reputation is also one of his concerns. For too long, weak pathetic little men have been comfortable with disrespecting his chairman. It's time he shows them the consequences of being an enemy of Daigo Dojima.

Summary
Daigo had been toying with the idea of buying a gift for Mine.
It hadn't been long since the man had joined the clan, after all. Even less time since they were on good terms. For a while Mine was a troublemaker, running around and, admittedly, making money for the clan but mostly sparking conflict between families. Daigo had seen something in him, and wanted to believe he would see the light. He had to offer one billion yens and take a bullet in order for him to leave behind his rebellious tendencies.
Not that Mine had wanted any of this. He seemed guilty about his wound, and kept visiting him in the hospital during his recovery. Daigo had to admit, his visits were always appreciated and though Mine appeared more shy, less brazen than before, they had pleasant conversations. Every day he came to him, Daigo felt a little better.
He wanted to buy something for him. Not for any particular reason. Just to show him his gratitude. He was just freshly out of the hospital care, which was why he had bodyguards with him. But the collection of ties at Le Marché had caught his eye.

Summary
Arriving late to his rendezvous with Mine, Daigo’s exhaustion has reached its limit. In impulsivity he consumes much more alcohol than a man of his position should, and he has to be escorted out by Mine himself.
After a stumble and a scene straight out of a romance manga, Mine is stuck between an intoxicated Chairman and a brick wall. Suddenly, Daigo’s arms are wrapping around him and the proximity of their faces close in, and Mine makes the mistake of kissing him… or so he thought. Because Daigo’s a little too on board, and far too cold to leave by himself.

“Here’s Noah with one of the stray cats he picked up. Believe it or not, we had a whole zoo back on his island. And here’s Masaru — that was one of my crew members — tryin’ out karaoke. Highkey sucked at it. This one’s me with the bartender of the karaoke bar. Pretty funny dude. And here’s Jason with a terrible sunburn—”
“Wait, hold on,” Daigo interjected, his mouth suddenly feeling dry, “go back to the previous photo.”
That karaoke bartender had looked familiar, and not in a good way.

Sixteen years after Daigo loses Mine, a certain photo reignites a spark of hope in him.

Summary
The tattoo didn’t hurt, but he flinched anyway when Daigo laid his fingers over the center of his spine. There, he traced a line of red fire down along the Kirin in flight. “It suits you very well. Kirins are said to follow powerful rulers, right? Though… our irezumi are more metaphorical ideals than hard truths. I could stand to be a stronger ruler, and you a better follower.”
After failing to follow his Chairman's commands, Mine takes a tense visit to an onsen to celebrate his finished tattoo. Of course, what hangs in the air is the expectation of punishment--not appraisal. After so long testing his limits to see who would push back, Daigo takes Mine by the reins.
