Summary
For a long time, George has known he loved the bite of rope against his skin, and the feeling of brightly stinging pain, but he's never had someone to help him feel it. That is, of course, until he meets Dream: tall, handsome, domineering, and all too good at making him fall to absolute pieces. And so begins an arrangement: George goes over to his flat, he's fucked within an inch of his life, spends the night, and then goes along his merry way come morning. There aren't any strings attached, and it's glorious.
As the weeks come and go, though, George begins to realize that he's starting to feel a little more than lust when it comes to his thoughts about Dream. He knows better, he really does, and he knows there's no way in hell the other feels the same, but since when does anyone really have control over their heart?

They glare at each other for a moment, a foot apart, breathing heavily. Both of them are spitting mad, and neither one of them is going to back down. George’s eyes shift to Dream’s mouth for a fraction of a second. (He can feel Dream’s breath. It’s annoying.)
“Why do you have to be so fucking obnoxious all the time,” Dream grits out. It isn’t a question.
“You’re the one who’s making me look like an idiot in front of Coach. You’re the one who’s done nothing but cause problems since mmph–”
Right when he’s talking, Dream rudely interrupts him by surging forward and pressing their lips together.

Summary
The shift into realization can’t be boiled down to a single moment.
It’s a series of moments over months and months and months, and maybe it goes back further than he can even remember. It starts with George ghosting him, and it starts again with meeting George for the second time. It starts with George agreeing to put his livelihood on the line to help him chase an unlikely dream, and it starts with hours long Discord calls where he unknowingly grows fonder and fonder of George with time.
It starts with looking at a sweaty George in a fucking Minecraft video, of all things, and thinking oh. I want him.
And from there, it’s looking back at all the moments leading up to this realization, and wondering how he didn’t notice before now, or if maybe he just didn’t have the words to put to it until he’d spent enough time on the internet.

He shuts the phone off, dropping it in his lap and turning to face Dream. “What the fuck?”
“What? You’ve never seen Grindr before?” Dream asks, entirely too relaxed for George’s taste.
“I mean- obviously I’ve heard of it but- Why do you have it?”
“To make business connections,” Dream answers, completely stone faced, only cracking when George digs a finger between his ribs, pressing harder when he shies away. “Okay! Okay, Jesus. George. Come on.”
“Have you been hooking up with guys?” he asks, blunt, and it feels like the air leaves the room.
Dream seems entirely nonchalant when he says, “No, not yet I guess.”
“Not yet?”
Dream seems to finally notice his silence, and the way his body has gone stiff, because he turns on the couch to fully face him, expression draped in concern. “George? Is that okay? I figured- I figured it fit into our, like, agreement or whatever. But you can tell me if you want me to stop. I’ll delete it now. Shit, actually let me-”
or, dream and george aren't together- exclusively. so why does george care that dream might be seeing other guys?

The room is warm, too warm for the frigid January outside his window. The mattress below him is softer than normal, the blankets piled on top of him silkier.
Slowly, he cracks one eye open.
Across from him, in a bed that is not his own, is a sleeping man.
“What the fuck,” He mutters to himself, anxiety surging through his body, “What the fuck,” His body springs into action, throwing himself out of the bed and tripping over his own feet as he crashes to the floor.
“George?” The other man asks, and George’s blood runs cold. He knows that voice. He would know that voice deaf, or underwater, or six feet underground.
“Dream?” His voice cracks.

Sapnap stays in California and sends them off with tears in his eyes that he’ll always claim was just the smoggy air getting to him. Dream hugs him one last time, and then once more for good measure as George gets into the passenger seat.
He'll miss him, miss LA, but they’re retired now and Los Angeles has just never scratched the itch of home like Florida always had.
