“So, how do I look?” Alma asked, saying it directly into his ear, having leaned over him now, her hands touching either shoulder and making him freeze where he stood. He stammered quietly as her hands wandered down his arms in a gentle teasing manner.
“Like I -want- you....” Brom whispered under his breath. At this Alma grinned, migrating her hands to wander over Brom’s freshly buttoned and pressed shirt. “Well, well, aren’t we needy tonight? I can stop by and keep you warm later too if you like?” Alma laughed, further amused as Brom glowed brighter as she said this, his amber-red eyes bore daggers back at her. She traced her thumb along Brom’s bottom lip, then surprised him, and the two girls, by pulling him onto her lap in a full straddle. The women huffed as they were booted from their former pedestal, adjusting themselves back into their tops, red-faced and dismayed.

Haurchefant never asked for anything, ever. He was beautiful for it, a rare and gentle lily amongst the frozen tundra of Coerthas. Kaine would have taken on the entire Dravanian horde single-handedly if it meant keeping him safe.
Kaine opened his mouth to speak, then paused, thinking better for it. He tipped his head down, tilting Haurchefant’s face up with his hand. Their lips met, and he felt the sigh escape his beloved knight’s own as he claimed them for but a moment. Whispering one word to him as he pulled his hand back, still holding Haurchefant’s in his and took a single step away as blue aether began to surround him.
“Tonight…..” was all he said, and he strained himself to leave.

Summary

Summary
Neither the Warrior of Light nor his husband are strangers to having to do the hard but necessary thing. That familiarity can be a cold comfort, though, when one of them is called upon to support the other through the emotional aftermath of that responsibility.
B’alith watched from the top of the stairs while the unsettled Hearer went through the routine of trying to settle back into domesticity, each of his motions a bit too quick and too sharp compared to his usual aura of steadier calm. Zhai’a left his staff in its customary place, bookending the door opposite to where his spouse’s usually rested, and perched on one of the sofa's armrests to pull off his boots before finally turning around to face the rest of the apartment. Anxiety twisted sharply in B'alith's chest when he finally caught a glimpse of the expression on his husband's face.
Seven hells, but he was angry.
