But when Felix stands up straight again, the man he’s met with is decidedly not Jisung.
His father, presumably.
“Need a little help?” he offers, motioning toward the bags. “I’m not your Sungie,” he teases, light, with a little laugh, “But I did bring him into the world. And I think I can help.”

Summary
Chan hears the keypad of his front door beeping as someone punches in the code. He glances up. Only three people have his door code. His eomma, his brother Changbin, and—
“Oppa!” Yongbok cries out the second the door swings wide. Chan flinches when it ricochets off the metal door stop drilled into the perpendicular wall. “Oppa!” Yongbok wails, her head pivoting in her search for him. Her voice cracks, and Chan’s on his feet immediately, rushing toward her as she turns. Her trembling body sags in relief when he wraps his arms around her, pulling her tight and closing the door behind her.
“Bokie, shh,” he soothes, smoothing a hand down the back of her hair. Her hands are fisted in his shirt, the small frame of her body shaking as she bawls into his neck. Chan feels the wetness of her tears on his skin, soaking into the cotton of his collar. “Baby, what’s going on?”
Yongbok doesn’t answer—she sniffles, then her chest hitches and she dissolves into sobs again.

Chan finds out his uncle Seungmin isn't Yongbok's father, and every ounce of self-control he has comes crumbling down in the face of their not-relatedness.

Chris can't be sure.
Can a feeling burrow into his skin like a burr and stay there, twisting and aching like an old wound? Can a feeling writhe in his chest like a parasitic symbiote, whispering demands in his ears? Can a feeling keep him up at night with his head pounding like this?
It can’t be a feeling. It’s something else. Something worse. Some sort of impulse or instinct. Something ancient simmering under his skin. A thing.
Chris has always known the way that he needs Felix can't be healthy, but this is just getting ridiculous.

Summary
"Promise me you'll be careful," his mother implores. "Promise me you'll be careful in the Dark Wood. And that if you see that cursed wolf, that you will run, Felix. Run fast and don't stop until you reach your grandmother's village on the other side."
His mother always makes him promise this. Felix has not kept this promise in many moons, and this is also a truth he cannot share with her.
"I promise," he says anyway. "I will stick to the shadows."
People always say it is safer to move through shadows in the Dark Wood, so the shadows conceal you, keep you out of the light, keep you hidden from predators, prevent you from being prey.
Felix is far from prey, in the Dark Wood, but he doesn't tell his mother that, either.
