Summary
It started out as a joke, a simple joke. It was supposed to be some light teasing on Hen and Chim’s part to get Buck to sign up. That’s what Eddie wished it had stayed as. But, no, of course, Buck took them seriously and sent in an application anyway. And of course, ABC would take the opportunity to cast the firefighter that saved one of their latest Bachelor Contestants after she tried to glue herself to the Bachelor Mansion driveway (yeah, that didn’t exactly work out as planned for her). It’s great publicity, and a perfect story to get the public invested.
So, here Eddie is on Monday night in the station’s loft, surrounded by his nosy and traitorous co-workers watching the opening night of Season 21 of The Bachelorette, where Buck graciously exits a limo and walks to greet Emma, ABCs latest network star.
And Eddie? Eddie is absolutely miserable.

After a call at Bachelor Mansion, the 118 Team teases a single Buck about applying for the next season of The Bachelorette. He does and gets cast for Season 21, and now Eddie is living his worst nightmare watching Buck fall madly in love on live television.

Summary
Buck’s free hand comes up to Eddie’s face, fingertips brushing over Eddie’s mouth which is hanging open. Eddie isn’t sure when it started doing that but it is and his tongue twitches involuntarily when Buck slips the tips of his first three fingers past the row of Eddie’s bottom teeth.
“Oh,” Buck murmurs, like he’s confirmed something to himself. “Yeah. Okay.”
There’s no room in Eddie for anything that’s not grateful or warm or good, his heart spreading out wide in his chest, full and fat and working overtime as Buck smiles to himself, all small and lopsided and boyishly charming, and says, “You need something in your mouth, sweetheart? Need to hold me close, don’t you?”

“You don’t know how to lace up skates?” She makes fun of him, smiling as she already starts kneeling on the ground in front of him, lifting his foot onto her knee and taking the laces in her fingers.
