“Because... because you’re the reason Kacchan.” Deku tries to explain as he fades underneath the night sky like a dwindling camp fire.
“You’re the reason why I would be happy.” He finalises. “Swear it,” Izuku presses. It’s almost time to close his eyes one last time.
“I swear it.” Kacchan says in an instant.
It’s like some cosmic relief washes over him, letting him know that it’s okay to settle there like a wind up toy that’s at the end of its turn.
