The swing slows to a stop and they sit in silence. Kim feels the warmth of Harry’s body beside him, close enough to matter but far enough to remain unacknowledged. He wonders, not for the first time, what it would be like to exist in the world the way Harry does. He wonders, distantly, why the thought hurts.
“His pharisaical behavior lost him,” says Harry, his voice quiet like the singing of the bird within the calm of the early morning, “His pharisaical behavior lost him,” he says, “and for what?”
Kim tries to sing a song to calm Harry down when they find his motor carriage, and one thing leads to another.

Harry's eyelids flutter like butterflies as he cocks his head to the side. The corners of his mouth stretch enough to reveal his front teeth and the little gap between them—rabbit teeth, Kim's treacherous mind supplies—and it's clear he wants to laugh but prevents himself to.
"Like what?" Harry says, his voice a little giddy.

Summary
When Shiro gets back to the monastery, Osceola Redarm is there. His huge frame sits on the small chair in the back room of the church (the one usually reserved for guests) next to the low table on which remains only one small candle; his hands, as impressive from a distance as they are up close, rest on the bones of his knees with the polite air of someone who has been waiting in the warmth rather than in the winter cold outside. At the sight of Shiro, his face lights up somewhat—the discreet but very real lines of worry under his eyes seem to indicate that he has noticed the Paladin's battered appearance, if not the smell of alcohol emanating from him, but he says nothing about it.
A month after the Blue Night, Shiro is exhausted, overwhelmed, and he's still stubbornly refusing to admit that he shouldn’t be single-handedly raising two half-demon toddlers. Osceola, posted in Japan with Lewin for temporary support, ends up becoming the unofficial house's backbone, a place in which, accidentally, they both start to heal.
