Zhongli has lost so much, and he doesn’t know if he can bear more. Doesn’t know if he can bear this loss in particular. The words of that message are engraved in his memory, and he knows them even now, as he wishes once more that he could weep.
With Baizhu on death's door, Zhongli walks from Liyue Harbor to the Court of Fontaine to seek an impossible favor from the Hydro Dragon Sovereign.

Summary
Ghost huffs, a small glint of what Soap dares to call amusement in the golden light of his eyes. “Are you so afraid to die?” Ghost asks. He sounds curious, inasmuch as his flat voice can show emotion. Soap has heard him exasperated and annoyed and even fond when he’s speaking to his mount, but the curiosity is new.
“I’m no’ afraid of death,” Soap spits, baring his teeth. “I’m just no’ done livin’ yet.”
“Oh? What is there in life you’re not done with?”
And isn’t that the question. Ghost must take Soap’s silence for hesitance, as he adds, “You wake up. You fight. You bleed. You eat. You sleep. What else is there?” He’s asking like he’s desperate to know, challenging Soap and everything that he is, and Soap has no serious answer to give him.

Summary
There was no cause for it that he could discern, no reason for the feeling of dread that wouldn’t go away. The feeling lingered throughout the shower, breakfast, and all the way to seeing Ghost off at the airstrip. He chalked it up as his usual worry for Ghost whenever he had to go off without Soap there to watch his back and did his best to ignore and forget about it.
Had he known that would be the last time he saw Ghost for almost a year he would never have let him get on that plane.

But when he's finally face to face with Soap again, his stomach drops when he realizes Soap doesn't recognize him.
Soap who had been living a lonely life in London for the past year without any memories of himself or his past is intrigued by the stranger who frantically approached him. There is something comforting and safe about him but he doesn't know why.
As Ghost befriends him again, the two of them navigate their new friendship in their regular civilian life. Side effects from the brain injury have caused Soap to struggle with daily life sometimes, but Ghost is devoted to helping him through it while hiding the reality of their true relationship. As they grow closer, Ghost's love is steadfast and pure and with his consistent kindness and support, Soap can't help but begin to wonder what Ghost's hands would feel like on his body or the softness of his lips pressed against his.

Simon doesn’t answer, letting the question roll around in his head. Thinks about the Physique mag stuffed under his mattress. Stares at the glossy coat of black on John’s pinky and tries to find his words. Tries to find the courage to speak such a thing aloud when he’s spent so much of his life trying to hide that part of himself. Shown through cracks of his penchant for Pet Shop Boys and makeup, for his lingering gazes on lads playing footie.
