Something is happening on the Unstable SMP. The players who had once died on the server are respawning again. On Unstable, once you die, you stay dead.
Through all the power and anarchy and corruption and violence on this twisted, horrible server, that was the one most stark, terrifying truth about Unstable. Everything you do, you will only ever do it in this one life. There will never be another.
On this hardcore server, dead players don't simply come back. And when they do, it isn't without consequences.

A pebble skittered, then another. Rocks were moved. Boulders were shifted. A slim, pale hand reached down into the dead ruins of a long-ago memory. Slowly, the hand pulled something out of the rubble. A spyglass.

Summary
Wemmbu dies to Flame’s sword during their rematch. Dying in a hardcore server is—of course—permanent, so he doesn’t expect to open his eyes ever again.
But he does.
He wakes up in an entirely different world. One ruled by heroes, villains, and vigilantes alike. A place governed by systems and organizations so intricate they run deeper than anything he has ever known. The people here are familiar in the worst possible way: faces he recognizes, now hidden behind masks and titles.
Through it all, Wemmbu has only one goal. He needs to find a way back to Unstable SMP.
The question is whether this world—and the people who claim him—will ever let him leave.

Summary
The Eidolon FFXIV server is a quiet, casual place.
