From the outside, Ghost is well adjusted. Cultured, educated and with an impressive career in the SAS, he seems like everything recruits and rookies could ever wish to be. Inwardly, he is falling apart.
He stumbles from manic episode into manic episode and is more lonely than anyone could know, his addictive cush on his sergeant also doesn't help the matter
It is when Soap asks him to spend their leaves together, that he makes a decision that will haunt him. Do everything Johnny wants, needs or dreams of because if Ghost is useful, maybe Johnny will finally love him.

“For what?”

“Ye are helpin’,” Johnny says immediately, voice thick. “This—this is helpin’.”
