Peter's voice whittles down to a high pitched whistle, forgetting that he needs to breathe to continue creating more sound.
After a few more agonizing seconds during which Peter weighs the possibilities that he just gave his mentor and the savior of the world a heart attack, Mr. Stark looks up at him, eyes suddenly wide.
A beat passes.
"What's your teacher's name again?"
AKA, Ryland Grace and Tony Stark hooked up in college. This is fine, until 20 years later, Peter Parker gets involved. It's all downhill from there.

The Eridian thrills a high sound that doesn’t get picked up by the translator which means that it has no clear meaning. Like when a human gasps or sucks in a deep breath. It actually sounds a little like that. When they notice that I’m staring straight at them they scramble back into their hiding spot and hold very still.
A child, I realize with a start.
That’s a child!
“Hey,” I call and the kid squeaks again. I was about to get to my feet but abort the movement and crawl closer on my hands and knees until I'm inches away from the xenonite wall. I wait and it takes me much too long to realize that they don’t have to peek around the corner to see if I’m still there.
“Hey there,” I try again, my voice low and calm. It’s my teacher voice, the one I use for shy and scared students.

The fact that I haven’t had to use it for years and it still comes to me automatically almost knocks the air out of my lungs but this is not about me, it’s about making sure the little pebble doesn’t die of fright from the scary alien. “Hi, I’m Grace. It’s alright, you don’t have to be scared.”

Neuvillette simply raised a brow at him as he unlocked the other hand cuff. “Sigewinne is hardly a menace, Wriothesley. What claim do you believe you are refuting?”
“She's overreacting, I'm fine. I just breathed in a little bit of some kind of powder. So did a lot of people. I feel fine.” Wriothesley scoffed. “I just wanted to come up here for our budget report and Sigewinne decides that I need a babysitter.”

Beyond this though, is getting together and healing. The mind has an odd way of starting to process things we would rather forget when we finally feel safe.
In other words it's the story of Wriothesley finally feeling safe and all the emotions that come with that.
