Little did he know that someone would see it over coffee the following week and think: Huh. That cat could use a home.
OR: John gets his picture posted with shelter cat Alpine to attracted dates. He attracts Bucky and thinks they are dating. Bucky thinks they have the longest adoption process ever.

“You really scared me there. For a second, I thought you weren’t coming back,” Bucky whispered in a low voice.
It was a vulnerable confession.
He had never sounded like that before, not for John. Ever. It was too personal. Too intimate. Too much.
Or: John time-travels and has to figure it out how to go back, as he struggles to understand why this future Bucky is so different from the one back home, the one that hates his guts.
