“So what the hell was that all about?” Jason asked before he took another drink. The third beer was going down easy, the slight alcoholic buzz thanks to his nerves and empty stomach mingling nicely with his head high.
Dave shifted, planting one foot on the floor and tucking one leg under himself, looking away as he reached down for another beer, though Jason didn’t think the one he was still holding was empty yet. “I said something that pissed him off,” he said, then gave a quiet snort. “It’s not exactly hard to do that.”
“What’d you say?”
Dave looked right at Jason, the stoned look suddenly gone from his eyes. “I told him you could do better than him.”
