Summary
“I'm so sorry,” Mike adds again.
“You didn't do it on purpose.”
“No, no, Will... I did it on purpose,” he murmurs. Even though it's dark, Will can tell he's looking right at him. “I wanted to do it.”
Will doesn't understand. It doesn't make sense. Carlton's words must have hurt him more than expected. They are very close, and neither of them seems willing to pull away from the other, even though they should.
“I don't understand.”
“I wanted to leave a mark on you,” says Mike, reaching out to touch that patch of skin. "I want... I want Carlton to see it and know it was me."
"Mike.”
"I want him to wonder why you let me do it,“ he adds, as if he can't help himself. "I want that for every time he touches you, he thinks about the fact that I can touch you too."Will is an art student, has a boyfriend, an ambiguous relationship with his roommate and childhood best friend, and a difficult past he has to come to terms with before finding his own truth.

Summary
ISO: Carer to look after my father for 8 weeks this summer.
Dad is 71, early stage Parkinson’s disease, broke his hip 6 weeks ago. No signs of cognitive decline; mostly needs help with household tasks (cooking, light cleaning, laundry, grocery shopping), getting dressed, showering, changing cat litter/general cat care, getting to and from appointments.
Please know what you are getting into; Dad is physically more or less in good health but awful at accepting his limitations, unnecessarily mean, generally uncooperative, and largely nocturnal. Imagine yourself caring for a feral raccoon that is convinced it’s going to write another book, then subtract everything that is cute about raccoons.
$20/hour, roughly 4 hours a day. Must be able to pass a background check and lift 50 lbs. Patience of a saint not required but preferred. -

Summary
Armand has started to notice lately that his fix isn't quite doing it for him anymore. That watching on its own may not be enough for much longer. His craving less and less curbed through observation alone.
The prospect has occurred to Armand that, in order to kick the habit, maybe he just needs a little bit more. Something satisfying enough to finally properly scratch the itch. And then he could give it up, let Daniel go for good. He's thought about what that would take. He's thought about how they left it. How he didn't know, neither of them knew, that their last time had been their last time. Armand has wondered if that's the closure he's missing. If maybe all he really needs is one last night with his claws digging into Daniel's back and Daniel's hands threaded through his hair. It's the addiction talking, Armand knows, but it's persuasive.

Summary
Survival is an artform.
Armand has been an unwilling student, an eager acolyte, a master of the craft. The things he feels can be broken down into component parts. Can be simplified into anatomic essentials, the series of processes required to make him something that functionally resembles the likeness of man. Sensation without thought. Water-damp brushstrokes dragging across a canvas with no paint. No color. No light.
Leaving Dubai was an act of necessity, arriving anywhere else an act of apathy.
In which Daniel attempts to make sense of the past and Armand attempts to do whatever the opposite of that is.

Summary
“You doing all right?” Daniel asks him.
Armand blinks. “No,” he says.
“Most honest you've been with me since I got here,” Daniel says. And then, because it seems like the thing to do, “I can clear out, if you need the place to yourself.”
“Whatever you prefer.” Armand's lips look chapped. Dehydration? He ate the kid with the sunglasses, but the smear he left took a lot of bleach to scrub away. Maybe Daniel should - “You won't be harmed,” Armand says, “regardless of your decision.”
“You got served divorce papers so hard it left a crater,” Daniel says, “and you're still poking around in people's heads.”

Summary
Daniel sees life like a river. Thinks he is caught up in a current that only goes one way, that will eventually sweep him out to sea. It’s easier for him to think so. It keeps him alive to think so.
He doesn’t know that he could stand up and reach the bottom. He doesn’t know he has a choice.
Drugs don’t work, sex doesn’t work, New York hasn’t worked. Somewhere in the Appalachian Mountains, an improbable number of suicides have taken place. Somewhere in a bar in New York, Daniel hears about them. He wants to fill a void. The difference between what is real and what isn’t matters as little to him as the things he’ll find to throw into the darkness. Which, as it turns out, is quite a lot.
