Summary
Ilya knows that no one loves the same version of a person; his Shane is different to Yuna’s Shane, who is different to David’s Shane, who is different to J.J., or Rose, or Hayden’s Shane. And while Ilya knows he’d fall in love with every single version, he’s happy he gets this one. Happy he gets the Shane who lets himself be trusting, and vulnerable, and honest.
It makes Ilya wish he could have loved Shane earlier - makes him wish he could have known him longer. But he’s just glad he gets to do it now, here, like this.
(Or, four times people are surprised by Shane’s clinginess, and one time they completely expect it.)

“I love these pretty eyes, and these cheeks with your freckles. You are so beautiful, I want to give you everything you want.”
A beaming grin, open and smoothed of the world outside their bubble, surrounds Shane's response. “I have everything I want.”
“Are you sure, sweetheart? Anything. Sunshine, rainbows, I will make them in the sky for you. Anything.”
“Well, um. Actually." Shane's shoulders curl into a bashful hunch. "…No, never mind, um. It’s silly.”
“Baby,” Ilya coos. “Baby, you know you can tell me. Anything at all. I love you. If I can get it for you, I will.”
“Well, um. It’s…it’s kind of. Embarrassing.”
“Don’t be embarrassed, sweetheart." Ilya grasps one of the hands Shane has snaked protectively around his own torso. Kisses the palm, the pads of the fingertips. He's in no rush to find out what flavor of this game Shane wants to play today. "Tell Daddy what is in your pretty head.”

Summary
The first thing Ilya Rozanov did when Shane practically peed on his feet on the front lawn of their cottage, sweaty and chest heaving from his morning run, was Google juice recipes. After a pissy, sweaty, teary morning, Shane definitely needed the extra liquid.
Definitely more than usual.
And after five minutes of Googling fruits and vegetables that were natural diuretics, Ilya came to the conclusion that they needed to go shopping. Preferably to Shane’s favourite healthy gourmet foods store, Happy Mart Ontario, and buy the freshest, juiciest, most organic foods with the highest water content.
It had been a natural first step.

Summary
Everything was almost perfect.
The Centaurs were already having their best season in two decades, Shane had fit right in and was killing it on the ice, Ilya was married to the love of his life, and they finally didn't need to hide anymore.
And yet…there was one thing standing in the way of perfection, and Ilya was trying very hard not to think about it too much in case it gave him a heart attack.
Shane had been playing for the Centaurs, in Ottawa, with Ilya, for six weeks now and he still hadn't moved in.
