Summary
Whoever put on the club version of "Closer" was clearly aiming for something like this to happen, Nico's convinced. Kudos to them for sparking the most unlikely threesome known to man, if so.

Summary
If anyone ever asks how it happened, Rook decides she will blame Andarateia. The woman is after all an outrageous flirt, who flatters her with countless honey-tongued compliments. And also a gossip, who lets slip that Viago feels a little bad, nearly ten years too late, about not recognizing Lucanis’s clumsy attempt at flirtation.
They drink too much fortified wine at the casino and someone (Rook will swear it was Teia; it was not) suggests wouldn’t it be fun to let them make up for lost time. It is a ridiculous idea, and they both laugh uproariously, but Rook wakes up the next morning with a dry mouth and a hangover and thinks, maybe.

Summary
"Lucanis Dellamorte,” he said with a casual air about him. Like he wasn’t the man who had fucked her senseless on the docks nearly a year ago. His eyes lingered on her for a fraction of a second, just long enough to twist her stomach into knots. But then, his gaze shifted to Neve with a charmingly cool effect.
For a moment, Rook wondered if he truly didn’t recognize her. There wasn’t even a flicker of familiarity in his face, only that guarded and smooth allure that made her bite her lip. She tried to shake off the pang of disappointment, forcing herself to focus on the mission, but damn, it stung. He doesn’t remember. And it’s better that way, she told herself, trying to smother the rush of excitement she had felt upon seeing him.

Summary
“I- need a date. Which is to say… you. If you’ll agree.”
Neve’s eyebrows rose. “You mean that Lucanis has invited you out dancing. And you want to bring me along? To what, third wheel the whole time?”
“It was addressed to the Savior of Treviso,” Rook said tightly, unable to forget, even over a year later, how she hadn’t been able to save Minrathous in the same way. “And sent from ‘The First Talon’. Neither of our actual names were even on the invite. Please, Neve, it was- it was the least personalized thing I’ve ever read, like some secretary wrote it. And I just… I can’t.”
***
A year after saving the world, Rook receives an invitation to the Antivan Crow’s Gala of the Feathers.Featuring Detective Neve, the only woman who actually has a clear idea of what’s going on, and a Rook and Lucanis who have both taken away very different translations of the same memory.
