DISTANCE LIMIT EXCEEDED
TERMINATING
I waited two seconds, three, five. Nothing happened. The alert kept flashing in my systems but there was no sudden blinding pain, no sensory blackout, no shutdown.
After about ten seconds, there was a rush of chemicals to my neural tissue. My organic skin was prickling with sweat and adrenaline made me want to twitch, but my performance reliability had ticked up a couple of points.
It felt … good. I was relieved, but there was something else, something like satisfaction. Something like winning.
There sat the monster that lived in my head, defanged and immobile. Powerless. It could scream at me all it wanted, I didn’t have to listen to it.
I would never listen to it again.

Summary
Samira can persuasive essay her way into many things. It's how she's ended up here, on an off-world semester long survey trip aboard the Perihelion.
Unfortunately, a persuasive essay isn't going to be enough to get her out of her current situation.
Good thing their security consultant is so competent!
(and also deeply, deeply weird)

Summary
Perihelion leans on both of us in the feed, and I keep my eyes on 1.0's hands, transfixed by the way they're managing to be gentle and exacting at the same time. It knows every seam in the drone's casing, every latch to undo, every screw to unwind. Under its ministrations the drone is coming apart in pieces, and honestly, I sympathize.
