    When Qishan Wen attacks the Cloud Recesses, Lan Wangji is taken as a political prisoner and brought to Nightless City, ostensibly to be educated in his new role as Wen-approved administrator to assist his brother in leading Gusu Lan as a vassal sect under Qishan Wen. Instead, he ends up as Wen Ruohan’s pawn and sent to the Burial Mounds as a gift to buy the Wen sect leader the fearsome and mysterious Yiling Laozu’s favour and allegiance in the war to come.

    How will Lan Wangji prevent himself from becoming another one of the countless dead rumoured to lie buried and forgotten upon the cursed mountain? Will he even be able to survive, let alone live long enough to find his way back home?

    A dark Wen Yuan AU based off of (with permission) the awesome comic by pakhnokh

    Chapters 1-3 are the original getting together fic about Lan WangJi and Wei WuXian, and can stand alone.
    Chapters 4-6 are a Wen Yuan coming of age story.

     

    In this alternate universe, WWX did not die during the first siege at the Burial Mounds, and has raised A-Yuan as his son and only disciple, living with the rest of the Wens. He does not leave Luanzang Hill, and A-Yuan meets with other sects on his behalf. The outside world has not seen him since he closed himself off within the "strongest fucking barrier known to the cultivation world." But now, with the return of ferocious corpses that the cultivation world cannot handle, the blame falls to the Yiling Laozu. LWJ has not seen WWX since rescuing him from Nightless City and confessing to him in the Demon-Salughtering Cave. He has taken WWX's distance as a rejection of his love.
