Summary
After the Leviathan burst out of Castiel's body, he died for the third time in as many years. He is brought back once more, however, not as an angel, but in a fragile human form. Even though he now understands the depths of his betrayals, his failures, Cas still turns to Dean. Cas knows that he doesn't deserve forgiveness, but even if God brought him back in this form as punishment, Cas is still committed to making good on his oath to Dean. He needs to redeem himself in Dean's eyes, to prove his sorrow and regret, to make it up to him and Sam, if that's even possible.
When Cas arrives at the late Rufus Turner's Cabin he finds Dean with a broken leg, Sam with a broken mind, and Bobby, well he's pretty much still Bobby. Being human is a terrifying new experience for Castiel, the emotions alone are overwhelming, and his guilt and sorrow over what he wrought on Earth and in Heaven threatens to consume him with every passing moment. No matter how difficult this new life, in this he will not fail: This is how he will repent. This is how he will express his love for Dean. A love that, as an angel, felt more abstract. Now that his vessel is his body? It begins to become something else entirely.

Summary
In which Amara doesn't bring back Mary, she brings back John Winchester.
Dean is uncertain what Amara's meaning is when she brings John back, and struggles with coming to terms with the new family dynamic. Sam tries harder to keep the peace than he used to, and Cas does not get along with John at all- though he tries. Testosterone is at an all-time high as these four men struggle to coexist in the hunting world with very different ideologies.
We explore just how much the brothers have changed in the ten years without their father's guidance, the trauma they still haven't resolved, and the feelings that Dean and Cas hold for one another despite the very real and new barrier that is John.
This story begins 12x01 and ends around 13x06

It's been years of watching Dean and Cas dance around their feelings and at this point, Sam's losing hope that they'll ever take that step and talk things out already. One well-placed spell from Rowena makes Dean and Cas incapable of not talking, but even that doesn't get them together. Dean's a lumberjack, so he chops down a lot of trees. Really, he probably should've expected he'd accidentally chop down a tree with a beehive in it at some point, but nothing could've prepared him for a little fairy dude who demands he build a new hive, and even if by chance he was ready for that, he never would've expected to actually start kind of liking the company.
