    Summary

“I thought Ilya was, like, the man here,” Hayden motioned. Something suspiciously sounding like Jackie’s voice in the back of his brain told him that wasn’t the right wording, but he was too tired and already too buzzed to care. Besides, this was Shane, he didn’t need to say the perfect thing. Shane knew what he meant.

Scott shifted. “They are both men, Hayden” he said very formally. Hayden suddenly felt like his dad was lecturing him.

Hayden sighed. “No, Shane, you know what I mean.”

Shane’s brow furrowed in concentration. “Like, because I bottom?” He said, slightly embarrassed.

Scott’s steady gaze on Hayden suddenly turned very sharp.

“No!” Hayden started. “Well, maybe? I don’t know how that works. I just mean, like, you’re real gay and Ilya likes women, right?”

OR 5 times Hayden realizes other people know his best friend better than him, and the 1 time Shane tells him himself.

    Summary

"Listen, Mr. Rozanov." The general manager is talking out of the side of his mouth, his cigarette dropping ashes all over the hotel table. "We like you. We want you. We understand you are putting yourself under a fair amount of risk here, meeting with us like this. I hope it's obvious that if you play for us, we will set you up for a good life in Canada."

He pauses, looks Ilya in the eye. "But you have to understand, if you agree to this, you have to be prepared to leave with us right now."

    Summary

What if the video never leaked and their relationship was still a secret when Shane joined the Ottawa Centaurs? The team wait in anticipation for Rozanov's reaction to his career-long rival joining their team... but wait a minute, they're jumping into each other's arms, giggling like a couple of schoolgirls?

Aka 5 times Ilya and Shane’s 'friendship' seems really gay and the 1 time everyone realises it’s been actually gay the whole time.

Cue the Ottawa Centaurs being absolutely clueless, the Montreal Metros mourning the loss of their best player, and the Centaur WAG's (+Harris) being absolutely done with their ignorant partners.

    Pt 1: Like They Did
    Words: 5,319
Almost every one of Shane’s friends were on that plane. He watched the newsfeed as it dipped out of the sky, rocketing towards the ground—or, more aptly, the ocean.
Shane would be going to so many funerals over the next few weeks.
    OR
Shane reacts to the plane crash, thinking that Ilya died

    Pt 2: Like We Did
    Words: 4,461
There were few things as painful for Ilya Rozanov as watching the man he loved absolutely crash out in the middle of an interview being given just minutes after he watched Ilya’s plane crash. For all intents and purposes, the world thought Ilya was dead. Which meant Shane thought Ilya was dead. Which meant that when that interviewer asked him if he was happy that Ilya was dead, Shane appropriately lost his shit.
