He calls Ilya straightaway. It rings out.
'Hi, this is Ilya. I will never listen to your voicemail.'

Shane and Ilya's weekend plans are derailed when Ilya gets sick. Set somewhere in the timeline close to Role Model and The Long Game pre-plane incident. POV shifts between characters.

Summary
Shane parts from him after a few minutes. They’ve not seen each other in a couple of months and they’re yet to exchange words beyond ‘hey’... Not an unusual situation but he wants to check in.
‘Do we need to talk first, or anything?’ He asks.
Suddenly there’s a slight shift in Ilya. He sniffs, rubs his ear, turns away.
‘Give me just a minute, ok? Will just go to bathroom quickly.’
...
They lie for a while, snuggled close. Close enough Shane would swear he could feel every rumble in Ilya’s stomach.
Being together like this seems to bring about a shift in Shane’s mind. A sense of curiosity about things he’s never asked about. He decides to lean into it.‘Hey.’ He says. ‘Did you ever try things…like, the other way from what we do?’
A teasing look comes to Ilya’s face as they take in each other, entangled.
‘Hollander. You finally ask if I’ve ever been fucked, yes?’

Shane comes to Ilya's place for a hook-up but things take an unexpected direction as Ilya's not feeling great and they end up chatting about things they've not discussed before. Set in a post tuna melt timeline where the meltdown didn't happen. Shane's POV.

Summary
He winks at him in the last face off of the game and Shane feels his stomach lurch. Rozanov wins the face off, clawing back a goal for Boston.
The Metros still win 2-1, not bad at all given a couple of strong players are out sick. JJ had to leave afternoon practice yesterday after puking.
In the locker room Shane has stripped off down to his base layer, still sweating, nervous when his phone buzzes.
What’s a girl to do on a lonely night in Montreal?
Shane glances quickly around him, checking no-one is looking at his screen. They aren’t.
His heart is still racing. He takes some deep breaths as he sits, trying to calm down. But the nerves seem to be getting worse.
Then suddenly the feeling in his stomach shifts. There’s a flash of saliva to his mouth.
Oh fuck. Oh fuck.

Summary
Ilya hadn’t set an alarm but still he wakes what feels like too early. He checks his phone. 7:30am. Fucking great. The ache in his ribs is still there, probably to be expected given how little he’s rested since the injury. The pills from the team doctor are in the bathroom cabinet, mostly untouched.

As he wakes again he feels dazed. Like a weight has settled over his head, his limbs. His nose feels stuffy. He’s always gotten a bit of hayfever and can never remember to take an antihistamine. It’s been days, probably.
He sniffs, swallows. His throat feels worse. Could be the hayfever maybe? But why is he so fucking cold? He pulls the hood up, wraps himself in the covers. He still starts to shiver.He fights it for a few minutes. This never usually happens. It’s been fucking years.

Ilya comes down with the flu after the Raiders are knocked out from the playoffs as per timeline of ep5 of the show. He's due to have a phone call with Shane. Svetlana comes round to check on him. Split POV between Ilya and Svetlana

Summary
As Yuna leaves the room followed quickly by Shane, silence descends and Ilya feels the nerves creep up on him. The steadiness he has held this past hour is feeling...not so steady.
Like he is at sea without his anchor. Oops.
He tries to slow his breathing, strokes his thumb against the tumbler, trying not to drink too quickly. Reminds himself that Shane is only metres away.
It’s okay. It’s okay.
He looks at David. This man his beloved came from.
So...normal? So quiet.

Ilya never imagined Shane would invite him along...or that Yuna would become his sponsorship agent, or that Jackie Pike would catch them, or that David would clock them...An AU starting from the first time and continuing through all their relationship building, including alternative versions of The Cottage, Ottawa, etc. You'll laugh, you'll kick your feet, you'll awwww. Summary
Six months before Ilya Rozanov's 18th birthday, he decides to end it all. Running away from Russia and moving in with his best friend Svetlana at age 15 seemed like a great idea at the time; but it left his life in shambles, and he's tired of trying to fix it or hope for something better. So he takes a nice, long trip away from Boston, where he won't be Sveta's problem anymore, and tries to join his Mama in a better place.
Meanwhile, Shane Hollander's life is crumbling, and slowly he's beginning to realize that there's no coming back from that. All he wanted was to be in control of one thing, between endless hockey practices and constantly setting an example and having to be perfect. That 'one thing' happened to be his eating. A strict performance-enhancing diet. He's so obsessed with controlling himself, that he couldn't even see his "discipline" was getting way out of control until it was too late.
Struggling to hold their heads above water in the chaos and uncertainty that inevitably take place when your life slowly unravels to such a catastrophic degree, they will both come to find out that you can either find someone to hold on to, or you can resign yourself to drowning.
