    Summary

Hong Hua’s attention settled immediately on Xie Lian, eyes lingering with a subtle admiration, before quickly diverting to Lang Qianqiu.

“Your Highness,” he greeted, stepping forward and bowing with practiced precision, “I hadn’t expected the honor of your presence today.”

Lang Qianqiu smiled, clearly in high spirits. “We came at the State Preceptor’s suggestion. He thought it best that I observe and demonstrate my current understanding.”

Hong Hua inclined his head again. “Then it is our good fortune to be under the State Preceptor’s guidance today.” His attention settled once more on Xie Lian, a faint warmth touching his expression.

“Allow me to introduce myself, my name is Hong Hua.” He bowed his head, measured but sincere. “I have long heard of the State Preceptor’s skill. If I may be permitted, I would be honored to witness it for myself.”

OR: Hua Cheng finds Xie Lian three hundred years earlier, during his time as Fangxin Guoshi in Yong'an. To get close to Xie Lian, Hua Cheng joins the Yong'an Infantry under the alias of a young solider, Hong Hua, and must gain Lang Qianqiu's trust to become a member of the Imperial Guard, the personal bodyguard of the Crown Prince of Yong'an.

    Summary

“Gege doesn’t have to do anything that makes him uncomfortable,” Hua Cheng murmured as his hand slid lower, fingers caressing over Xie Lian’s tented trousers. “But it seems like he likes the idea.”

He leaned in, close enough that his lips barely brushed the shell of Xie Lian’s ear, voice dropping to a whisper. “Do you like the idea of dominating your San Lang? Forcing him to do devious things for the sake of his devotion?”

Xie Lian’s composure unraveled all at once. His lashes lowered over half-lidden eyes. The heat rising in his chest spread quickly, coloring his expression, leaving him thoroughly flustered. He reached forward, catching Hua Cheng’s lips in a deep kiss.

When he pulled back, it was only by a fraction, his voice soft and unsteady. “You want me to pretend… it’s my first banishment?”

OR: After acquiring temporary amnesia pills, Hua Cheng convinces Xie Lian to indulge one of his darkest fantasies. He wishes for Xie Lian to roleplay as a calamity, still in the agony of his first banishment, taking advantage of his most devoted believer, Wu Ming. Xie Lian is more than willing to give it a shot.

    Summary

A flicker of something wounded crossed Hua Cheng’s face. He hadn’t expected this to be so difficult, to feel so thoroughly stripped of the easy charm and confidence that so often left his husband flustered. Now, standing before this earlier version of him, he felt strangely outmatched.

He exhaled quietly, setting the matter aside. Taking his place at the altar, Hua Cheng picked up a brush, posture straightening as he prepared himself. He tilted his head slightly, aware of Fangxin stepping closer, hovering just behind his shoulder.

For a fleeting moment, a thought crossed his mind. He had assumed this request would give him the upper hand, a rare opportunity to play with a more abrasive version of Xie Lian, but perhaps he had miscalculated. Perhaps his husband had known exactly how this would unfold, leaving him here instead, about to be drilled in calligraphy until his fingers bled.

OR: Hua Cheng buys a spiritual device that allows Xie Lian to revert to Fangxin under the guise of improving his calligraphy. He's absolutely elated to find out that this version of his husband keeps having intrusive thoughts every time they touch.

    Summary

Hua Cheng stood before him, but he was not alone.

Opposing Hua Cheng was a young soldier clad in worn armor, his face hidden behind a pale smiling mask. Despite the mask’s fixed expression, the fury beneath it was unmistakable. He drove his blade forward again and again with fierce determination, each strike fueled by confusion, rage, and an unyielding instinct to protect.

At the same time, Hua Cheng’s free hand was occupied.

He pushed his palm against a small child’s bandaged face, gripping firmly to keep the boy from throwing himself into the fight. The child, no older than ten, twisted and kicked with wild, furious energy, his small boots repeatedly trying to stomp Hua Cheng’s shins.

OR: After confiscating a talisman from the Ghost Market, Hua Cheng's consciousness is divided into three pieces: Current Hua Cheng, Wu Ming, and Hong-er. Xie Lian must spend time with each of his husband's iterations, helping them confront their unresolved traumas, in order to restore Hua Cheng’s unified consciousness.

Explicit content is ONLY with current Hua Cheng.

    Summary

Yet, despite its overwhelming dissonance, despite all the molar-grinding concessions disguised as compromise, the appearance of the wedding itself wasn’t what now had Xie Lian choking on his own pesky expectations as they came surging sourly up his throat– but rather, the one and only empty place to be found in the entire venue.

    The altar.

Xie Lian’s first thought was a mortifying head-on collision: one, that he couldn’t believe it, and two, that he should have fucking known.

    -

After his decade-long, soul-sucking relationship with Jun Wu ends with being left at the altar, Xie Lian decides to take his life back into his own hands once and for all— starting with his would-be luxury honeymoon, now turned solo trip.

Out of practice with relaxation, Xie Lian doesn't expect much more than a week of privacy in which to lick his wounds and try to start over. He certainly doesn't expect San Lang, the bold and spirited young man he encounters on the way, who seems determined to raise Xie Lian’s standards /for/ him, who somehow has all the gossip on the island resort they’re both going to— as well as its notorious owner, Hua Cheng.

Maybe 'unexpected' is exactly what Xie Lian needs.
