A few months after Michaela confided in John her proclivity (or affliction, it was more aptly described she thought) towards the fairer sex, he had come home recounting a philosophy lecture that posited humans were once two halves of one whole creature, who shared everything from hearts and lungs and souls.
Is this who she is now? Destined to forever search for the missing half of her soul that vanished when John died?
She will be forever lost, looking for John, but she will never find him again.
Michaela considers this selfishness, that John was hers and hers alone, when evidence of the contrary exists in this room, exists right in front of her in the form of Francesca, who surely loved him as much as she did.

Morrible smiles. It is a grim thing, inhuman in a most off putting sort of way, teeth too white and lips curled too widely in the early morning air. Glinda would recoil only she’s trying quite hard not to show her hand, these days. “You love him, don’t you?”
Glinda nods. There is a terrible knot in her throat, she swallows around it but it only grows.
“Then act like it.”
