“The villains we fought today,” Deku forced out between pained breaths. “What—what were their quirks?”
“Uh,” Bakugou thought for a moment. “First one had that stupid spoon shit. There was the dude with the light refraction, and then the one with the—” Bakugou cut himself off.
“What?” Deku asked desperately. “The one with the what?” Tears were beginning to blur his vision as he pressed himself closer to the porcelain wall, hoping to cool his burning skin.
“Pain projection,” Bakugou said with a frustrated expression. “Crap. We’ve got to get you help.”

Summary
When his heart wouldn’t stop racing despite having been in bed for hours, Bakugou knew he had overdone it in training. He hated that. For the first time in what felt like forever, he’d been keeping up with everyone. He thought he’d finally gotten better. Would it always be that way for him? How was he supposed to become the number one hero if his heart flipped out anytime he used his quirk?
Bakugou would never admit it out loud, but he didn’t like having the episodes alone. It was easy to spiral, and his mind would wander, wondering if he’d die alone. Again.

“Cold?” Bakugou teased, eyeing Deku.
“Yeah.” He couldn’t let Bakugou figure out what was happening. Or any of the others, for that matter. Maybe he could tell Todoroki since they had always been close, but Deku didn’t want anyone to know how weak he really was.
“You good, man?” Sero asked, leaning forward to look at him better. “You seem a bit pale.”
“It’s the lighting,” Deku deflected. He knew Sero was right; he could feel the blood draining from his face as the pain continued on. It had spread from his arm to his entire body. His arm and back were the main things bothering him, but his entire body was throbbing with a dull ache. Advil didn’t do jack shit, and neither did Tylenol.
“I dunno. You look awful. No offense.” Kaminari looked at him, his brows furrowed in worry.
“Yeah, if you’re not feeling well, you can tell us,” Kirishima pressed.
“I’m fine, guys, really. Just tired. That’s all.” Part of him felt bad for lying to them, but it was better than telling the truth.
“If you say so.” Kirishima obviously didn’t believe him, but he thankfully dropped the topic.

“So, what’s the plan, nerd?” Katsuki asks, shaking Izuku out of his thoughts.
He turns his head to look at Katsuki who has his head tipped back against the couch just like him, expression now placid with a slight coloring to his cheeks. He’s so beautiful that it makes Izuku want to eat his own fist. But he refrains.
“I dunno, Kacchan,” Izuku scratches his jaw, “We, uh, were planning to go grab takeout from that place later, weren’t we? Maybe we can just eat there instead, make it look like a–like a date?”
Katsuki nods, looking away to consider further and then back at him, “Yeah that should work, maybe hold hands and shit too. You can kiss my cheek or whatever like last time, the whole shtick.”
A pretend relationship may fool the media and fend off the nosy public, but it only makes the ache in Izuku's chest worse and his feelings for Katsuki stronger. He's not sure if he can keep up this lie any longer.
