“Ned, you need to calm down, you are making a scene,” she bites at him.
“I’m sorry,” he says, voice dripping with all the sarcasm he learned from his sisters growing up, trying to pretend like he can’t also hear his own voice wobbling this badly, “Am I embarrassing you in Applebee’s right now?”
“I mean, a little,” MJ throws back anyway; never one to back down.
“MJ,” Peter squeaks, voice going high.

It doesn't. But it also does, in a way. Ned doesn't know what to tell you; all he can say is what MJ keeps telling him:

Summary
Wong smiles at Stephen. It is very much not the same smile he gives to Peter. This smile is filled with annoyance and the promise to exact bodily harm if Stephen doesn’t cut the shit.
“Strange,” he says, voice tight, “How would you like him to leave without any money? He has almost no possessions of value. What. Would. You. Like. Him. To. Do.”
“I mean,” Peter mumbles, “they have sentimental value, which I’d argue is the most valuable—”

After Strange's spell, Peter's tired of trying to beat his own luck. He gets it; Peter Parker isn't allowed to be happy. Peter Parker isn't allowed to live a life. He is here to be Spider-Man and nothing else. He's stuck in a funk, living day-to-day, the horrors of his pasts and the realities of the present bearing down on him harder with each passing day; his mind coming up with new ways to remind him that Peter Parker means nothing.However, unfortunately for him - or fortunate, depending on your perspective - the former Winter Soldier doesn't agree with this assessment. Shame he doesn't remember everything, though.

Everything was touched by him, and there had been a point in her life when it had been something that made her feel bitter and unhappy and jealous, where she would think Everything is tainted by Ian and I’ll never be free but now it felt like the opposite of that, like she was stuck in this place where everything was touched by Ian but it wasn’t enough, and she needed him to be there more, and that was terrifying, and dangerous, and also really fucking bad.
“Hey, hey, hey - Pop, c’mon, this isn’t that serious.”
“No,” she agreed through her tears, “no, it’s not that serious, that’s the fucking problem, Ian! Everything between us is so unserious and it’s - it’s - it’s a fucking disaster.”
