What would Tim Bradford do if he woke up one day and realized the life he remembered wasn’t the one he was living?

The door creaks open mid-sentence, and Tim’s words falter immediately. Lucy steps into the room, and her presence is like a sudden shift in the air. Finally, they can get out of here. His full attention slides her, but all previous frustration he felt is momentarily eclipsed by something else.She’s been crying. It’s written all over her face, plain as day. Her eyes are red and glassy, the faint puffiness beneath them in addition to her slightly pink nose making her look far more vulnerable than he’s used to seeing. Even her posture betrays her; she’s standing too stiffly, her arms wrapped tightly around her midsection as though she’s holding herself together by sheer will alone.
Angela might actually have a point.
If he didn’t feel bad enough before, he sure does now.

Summary
“Officer Chen, what happened?” Tim demands to know, his gaze darting around the room behind her.
She watches as he takes in the two people choking and the third lying bloodied and motionless on the floor; she aches to see that determination slip away, replaced with the wide-eyed, glassy look of fear. “Lucy—” he starts, but she’s quick to cut him off.
“You can’t come in here,” she says around a cough, her throat already tingling from whatever the hell was in that can. “She released some sort of poisonous gas. You need to call for the fire department and evacuate the building.”
“Did it get on you?” he asks, his eyes frantically scanning her.
“Yeah. Not as much as them, but….” She raises an arm, showing off the slight sheen on her skin, trying her best to ignore the way his features shutter in response.
Exposed to a mysterious toxin after an attempted murder gone wrong and forced to wait for help to arrive, Lucy struggles to cope with her symptoms. But at least she doesn't have to do it alone.
Or: the one where Tim is on the other side of the door.

After their hook-up at the Valentine's Gala and Tim and Lucy’s reluctance to talk about what happened, she gets assigned to go undercover, to wheedle out a money launderering ring, it turns out to be bigger than that.
She gets made by an old enemy and has to go into witsec, as far as anyone apart from the Lieutenant, Wade Grey, everyone thinks she’s dead.
She’s been moved to Hawaii (O’ahu, to work with Steve McGarrett and the 50 team, she has a new identity and belly full of baby. Crap at summaries sorry.
Not totally buzzed about the title so it may change.

Or: Lucy and Tim are rookie and TO who happen to sometimes understand each other in metaphysical ways. It's completely fine. Tim thinks it's fine, and he knows that Lucy thinks it's fine, too, thanks to the aforementioned metaphysical understanding. And if they're hyperconscious of not brushing up against each other by accident, well--Tim thinks that might be the only thing maintaining the illusion that Lucy is nothing more than a rookie he thinks about a little too often.
