When James is the one who spots a masked intruder sneaking around the CCT Tower, he ends up called to Ozpin’s office to talk about the incident, and it’s there that he properly meets Ruby, who also has an interest in the mysterious woman and what she was up to…

Summary
When Nightingale asks Peter if he can take Toby and sleep in the coach house for the night, Peter doesn't find it especially weird. But when Toby starts barking in the middle of the night and won't stop, and then won't follow him back into the Folly to investigate, that's when he starts having suspicions. Because in this AU, Nightingale has another secret, and Peter is about to discover why it's unwise to go creeping around the Folly under the light of the full moon...

Summary
Clover is dead, and it's all Qrow's fault. But not just his, it's James's fault too, and Qrow intends to make him pay for that, and for the rest of the mess he's making. But for now Qrow is locked in a cell, and for some reason Robyn, his cell neighbour and someone who has just as many reasons to hate the guy right now, doesn't think that killing James is the answer. While they try to escape and get back in the fight, can she convince Qrow that he's a better man than that and that there's a better way, or will he let his grief and self-hatred take him to as dark a place as James's fear is taking him?
(A re-write of Qrow and Robyn's storyline in vol8. Part of a larger re-write AU series but can also be read as a standalone.)
