When Hawks is almost killed protecting Tokoyami from a villain, Tokoyami wants nothing more than to sit by his mentor's bedside. However, things aren't what they seem and Tokoyami hears things about the incident that aren't what actually happened. But then Dabi appears one night, acting in a way that implies he's close to Hawks and insisting that someone on the hero's side tried to kill him; not the villain that attacked Hawks and Tokoyami.Tokoyami isn't sure whether he believes Dabi or not; after all, the man is one of Japan's worst villains, despite not acting like it. But what he does know, is that someone tried to kill his mentor and cover it up, and that wasn't something Tokoyami was willing to leave be. And if that means working with Dabi to uncover the truth, then so be it.

"What, is it another one?" Dabi asks. "That seems fast. I thought you said they were a once a year thing."
"They are," Hawks mumbles. "But uh, there's… a second part to them. Usually a few months after."
"Birdie," Dabi says, his patience clearly being strained. "Just spit it out."
Hawks clears his throat. "It's eggs. I… lay eggs. And I'm having trouble getting them out."
"Oh."
Hawks peeks up at Dabi. "'Oh?' That's it?"
Dabi has his hand placed over his mouth as he gives Hawks an appraising look. "You know, I had noticed you were putting on some weight lately, but I didn't wanna say anything and get banned from your nest."
Hawks smacks him with his wing. "I changed my mind. Get out of here. I don't want your help."
