Summary
When investigative journalist Rook receives an anonymous email about a string of disappearances in the Necropolis, she expects another dead-end case. But when her contact doesn't show up for their scheduled meeting, she realizes this is something else—something older, something hidden.
Her only lead? Emmrich Volkarin, a former detective from the now defunct Mourn Division, the city’s long buried paranormal investigations unit. He worked the case back in 2012—and appears to be the only one who made it out. The files were sealed, the operation written off as a failure, and Emmrich has spent the last thirteen years avoiding the ghosts of his past.
But the past isn’t done with him—and it's about to be torn wide open in the form of Rook, a fiery, young, and utterly relentless journalist who refuses to accept "failed operation" as an answer.
