Summary
"So… are you going to tell me what's going on with you?" Ilya asked just as Shane popped a dill pickle in his mouth.
"What do you mean?" Shane kept his gaze fixed on his empty plate.
"Come on, Hollander. I've known you long enough to see that something is wrong. Tell."
Shane let out a long breath and leaned back on the couch. "The summer wasn't… good."
Ilya remained quiet, waiting, leaving him space to explain.
"A friend died."
Shane is confronted with mortality and makes a spur-of-the-moment decision to visit Ilya.

Summary
The old lady struggles to keep her eyes open. Her bleary gaze slides over towards Halsin and in the next moment her bloodless lips stretch in a wide smile of recognition.
Astarion takes a step forward. That gets the lady's attention; her eyes widen just a little as she lets go of Halsin's hand and stretches out hers towards Astarion.
"Jimmy… you came…"
"Of course I came, my beautiful love. Of course I came," Astarion says softly. He reaches for her, his own hand radiating barely visible black rays. Halsin's eyes are glued to his fingers, following their every move. Astarion gives him a quick sideways glance. Halsin knows to resist the allure of the black aura. Still, Astarion checks, just to be sure.
Something ends, something begins.
In a world defined by forces most people aren't even aware of, Halsin and Astarion navigate their work for a mysterious Agency, coping with the consequences of their interference with mortal lives, and making their relationship work despite their differences.

Summary
“I don't think I can keep pretending I don’t like you anymore.”
The words barely have time to sink in before Ilya fires back, “You don’t like me.”
Too quick. Too practiced. And not enough to make Shane back off.
“Yeah, I do. I think I like you maybe a little too much.”
Forget the band-aid. Shane is ripping him open and doesn't even realize it.
After two months of complete silence that follow after Shane runs out on Ilya, they finally get to talk to each other in Tampa Bay during the All-Star game weekend.

Summary
"What are you talking about, Hollander?"
Shane is pressed against Ilya's back, head propped on his hand. One careful finger strokes Ilya's left cheek, then taps twice.
"I mean the beauty mark."
Ilya shifts onto his back and looks up at Shane. "I thought you meant the fucking."
"Don't be a dick." Shane chuckles and swats at his chest lightly. "I want to know the Russian word for beauty mark."
A stolen hour of closeness, seen through the eyes of Ilya Rozanov.

Summary
Afterwards, Astarion wasn't sure who voiced the idea first.

Six months after the defeat of the Elder Brain, they meet again at Withers' reunion party, where everyone decides to make a yearly event out of it.
One year later, Astarion is still struggling with finding his place in the world, and doesn't know if he should attend at all. -

Summary
“I'm so sorry to cause all this trouble,” Halsin said, handing him the empty mug.
“Will you stop apologizing already? Yes, you are sick, and I am not, for whatever unfathomable reason.” Astarion still couldn't quite grasp the fact that of all people, he was now the camp's caretaker. “Everyone else has accepted their fate and is resting. You should do the same.”
A mysterious sickness is spreading in Baldur's Gate. Though not deadly, it does not react to any of the usual healing spells and potions. Soon it becomes apparent that the whole party is infected, too - except for Astarion, who takes on the role of camp's caretaker (albeit clumsily). A few days later, everyone slowly gets better. Halsin... doesn't.
