He had always assumed he would have children, they would graduate from Hogwarts, find themselves decent matches, and produce offspring for him to watch over. Never spoil, no. He was a proud man, and no self-respecting lord would gush over their grandchildren. No matter how cute they may be.

Severus has spent the last 13 years blaming himself for Lily and James' deaths. He should have listened to them when they tried to talk him out of joining Voldemort in an attempt to spy independently.
