“I’m trying to find a place to stay, Akiyama-san. I saw a baseball game a few hours ago! But, um, I didn’t think about how the trains don’t run this late. So I’m kinda stuck here. You know anyplace that takes a person in for…” Shinada dug around in his ratty jeans that clung to his thighs, feeling out a few loose coins along with a crumpled pack of gum, “…three hundred yen?”
“Three hundred yen?” Akiyama had begun walking in step with him, in the direction from where Shinada just came. He had an air of dictation, and Shinada felt compelled to follow just from Akiyama's confident stride, with his hands shoved in his pockets and his strong chin tilted upwards, towards an unusually starry night sky, “You can just stay at my place.”
