Harry was almost certain that he would not accept praise from anybody as easily as he accepted it from Ginny, because she knew he didn't want it, or need it, and gave it to him because she wanted to, wanted him to know she esteemed him on a level far deeper than the strangers who dubbed him a savior.
Harry's mouth was dry with nerves, his heart vibrating instead of beating like a proper heart. They stood there in a comfortable silence, drinking in one another's visage, and Harry felt it like a soft punch in the back of the shoulder; they were really alive, and they did have hours, days, months, and years to talk. That time was no longer something he only imagined, but something that he was now standing amidst.
Though he nearly choked on the words, he took one last long gaze at her face and decided that he meant, with every fibre of his being, exactly what danced on the tip of his tongue.

“I can’t sleep,” Spooky Doorway Eddie says. “Can we just keep fighting tomorrow?”
The annoyance drops from a boil to a simmer. He reaches for the covers, holding up a corner in an invitation for a temporary truce. “I’m still mad at you.”
“I know,” Eddie offers, crossing the room and slipping beneath the sheets. “I’m mad at you, too.”

“Oh , come on you guys,” Buck reasons with the majority of the class who are still looking at him like he’s crazy, “A five question quiz on rocks and minerals can't be that bad. Aren’t some of you in AP US history? Now that's a groan worthy quiz.”
He gets a few chuckles for that. Win number two. Towards the middle of the room Charlie raises her hand.
"I have a proposal," she says and Buck's confidence wavers. "Hear me out."
Leaning one hip against the edge of his desk, Buck closes his eyes for a second and breathes deeply. With a wave of his hand, he tells her to go on.
"How about for every question we get right on here," she taps the half sheet of paper in front of her, "you let us ask you a question!"
He should’ve known better. These specific 14 year old's are going to be the death of him, aren’t they.
OR
Buck is a science teacher. Eddie is a gym teacher. Their students have a lot of questions.

"What— what do you see?"
"I see," Eddie says, measured, careful, "someone who looks like he wanted somebody to see him like that."
Buck's whole body goes hot.
"And I'm trying to decide," Eddie continues, slower now, his breath heavier, "whether I'm allowed to be that somebody."
The hand on Buck's thigh has migrated upward. He notices it three seconds after it happens, his palm now resting flat against his own stomach where his shirt has rucked up, fingers splayed across the skin. The touch of his own hand on his own body in this context is sending a current up his spine that he is, evidently, helpless to stop.
"Eddie." Buck's voice cracks. "Are you— are you jerking off to my photo?"
The pause is brief but loaded, and when Eddie answers it’s barely recognizable, every word landing somewhere in the south of Buck's body with a measurable physical impact.
"You send me a picture like that, Buck. What am I supposed to do?"
