Summary
Fifteen years after seeing each other for the last time, Maya and Carina end up living in the same building in New York. Carina is an architect, engaged to a perfectly respectable man who works in real state—stable job, family approval, the whole picture. Maya is the chaos she left behind in her twenties: intense, magnetic, and very much a woman she never fully let herself choose.
As old patterns resurface and carefully constructed certainties begin to crack, Carina is forced to reckon with a truth she has long denied: she was not forced to leave, she chose to. And this time, with Maya no longer waiting, choosing differently might cost her everything.

“BFF?” She asked shyly.
“Best friends forever,” Galinda explained, her smile bright.
It wasn’t like Elphaba had any other options. Not that she wanted other options, but she would’ve taken anything she could get. She just felt lucky to have found two good ones.

Summary
“Elphaba. That’s an unusual name.” Elphaba smirked and shrugged a shoulder.
“Yes, because every girl grew up with a Galinda.”
“Fair enough,” Galinda sighed, shoulders shaking softly when she laughed. She propped her chin in her hand and chewed her bottom lip for a moment. Elphaba felt her face flush under her gaze. “You have beautiful eyes, Elphie.”
“Elphie? You don’t even know my last name.”

Summary
“And do you usually break into your sister’s house in the middle of the night?”
“I—” Elphaba paused, frowning slightly at the women. “I didn’t break in,” she said mildly, shaking her head. “I used the door.”
She held up her keys, pointing them stupidly towards the door as if the woman wasn’t familiar with how the two functioned together.
The woman huffed, crossing her arms over her chest. “But why are you here?” she demanded. “It’s the middle of the night!”
“It’s eight o’clock,” Elphaba said, not really knowing why she was arguing that particular point. “Hardly the—”
“Alright!” the woman snapped, waving a dismissive hand around haphazardly. “You didn’t break in and it’s not the middle of the night. But what are you doing here?”
