Katie meets Copia.
he has one white eye and one green and it catches me off guard, my heart skips a beat, and I stumble out onto the sidewalk, “Thanks,” I manage to squeak out once more. I try to walk away, heading towards my little crystal shop a few blocks down but I keep glancing back and he’s there, staring right at me. It’s the strangest feeling - like my sternum has turned into a guitar string and it’s been tightened and plucked, sending vibrations from the top of my skull to the tip of my toes. I shake it off - too many breakups, too many bad dates - I’ve got no business thinking about love at first sight. But as much as I attempt to rid myself of the feeling - stretching my neck and skipping a few steps - it remains, like a constant purr in the center of my body.
Things escalate from there, as they do around these parts.

Except today feels different. Like something is amiss. Something is afoot. Is it the ever looming cloud of anxiety I carry with me wherever I go? Possibly. Could it be the low pressure weather system hanging over the city? Maybe. Could it have been that lox and cream cheese bagels Dewdrop made with extra capers and hot sauce? Also possibly, maybe, yes.
But this feels different - this feels like intuition and guts and all that manifesting and sensing and karma. This feels like my whole life is well on it’s way to getting royally fucked up.
And it does.
