Summary
Shane has married Ilya, a known chaos monster, with a penchant for fast cars and designer clothes. Shane has spent his life making sure he was financially responsible. Now it's time to merge these two different approaches to money management; It does not go the way Shane thinks it will.
They had been married for 32 days.
And now was the big conversation: estate planning, their assets, and what combining them would look like.
Shane had found a financial planner. Had set the appointment.
He was, after all, Shane Hollander; he had approached his financial future with all of the key characteristics of a Hollander. His mom had guided his career, negotiating sizable contracts for him, and his father worked for the Treasury. It was in his blood.
Ilya, meanwhile, had approached today's meeting with the same organizational energy he brought to most things in his life, except hockey: confident, yet chaotic, and generally not stressed out about whether things would work out in his favor.

Shane snorted this time, eyes bright in adoration to Ilya and his usage of new English slang. Shane reached for the hem of Ilya’s shirt and tugged him forward. His voice was light but knowing. “And yet you still think you’re the lucky one.”

He doesn't think it'll end well for anyone if he's forced into playing an instinct-driven, blood-pumping sport like ice hockey with Shane Hollander right now, not when Hollander is probably going to bring his new girlfriend to Tampa for the weekend.
But it's Hollander. It's Shane. So of course Ilya doesn't decline the stupid invitation. And of course the game goes sideways.

What follows is a classic rendition of thirsting over the hot neighbor, bizarre small-town behavior, and so many puppies.

He was greeted with a warm, smiling, moustachioed face which took him off guard. Though Jake didn’t recognise the driver, something about him verged upon familiar. His smile faltered as his gaze flitted over Jake’s face, eyes tightening in a way Jake didn’t want to overanalyse, but it made him seem no less friendly overall.
“Where you headed?”
“Closest ranch,” Jake replied, trying to keep his tone neutral as he made the snap decision to not identify himself for reasons he would rather not think about.

He’s not wearing a helmet - only a pair of aviators - and while Bradley knows he should chastise Jake for not being more careful, he’s too busy drooling over the picture he makes as he pulls up to the front of the hangar. Fuck, he wants to eat him. Or maybe just his ass. Whatever.
The bike’s low, seductive rumble cuts out as Jake kills the engine, nudging the kickstand with the tip of his boot before dismounting. He pushes his glasses up into his hair, grinning at Bradley and holding his arms out in an expansive gesture.
“Hey, baby. Miss me?”
