Summary
Mech Man Blue was a hero. He was helping people, doing his best to be good and do good. But being 'good' has a line that Robert crosses. Abandoned by the city and the people he protected, Robert ends up in the same prison as his father's murderer.
The man who leaves the system is not the same one who entered.
Upon release, he no longer believes in clean lines between good and evil, thought of redemption long abandoned. He has to navigate a complicated relationship with Elliot Connors, and infiltrate SDN to retrieve the data that had been stolen. His growing affections for the team of misfits, especially one of them, bring complications to the calculations.

Robert Robertson cannot die. When a bullet enters his frontal lobe and exits through his occipital, it takes roughly twenty-eight minutes for him to wake up in a puddle of his own blood—the team in hysterics.
Funnily enough, the chromosome mutation that means he cannot feel pain, fatigue, hunger, or fear is a genetic issue entirely unrelated to the generation-skipping powers.

What the hell is he coming down with that it’s hitting him so hard and fast? . The door to his cell is unlocked. He doesn’t fight when he is roughly grabbed and shoved into the hallway. Robert looks over at Invisigal.
“Please,” he mumbles. He’s hunching forward, like he’s going to start trying to crawl out of his own skin. A million alarms are going off in Invisigal’s head, but there’s nothing she can do about them, “Whatever happens, stay in the cells.”

Chase is technically underage, he’s a year away from being able to drink but the bartender didn’t bother to check his ID. Chase has always looked a little older than he was, it works in his favor now.
Nobody at a hero bar like this would assume he was so young.
“How the fuck do you think that?” Chase asks, spits. His hands still shake with the memory of it. The beer in his hand shakes with the tremors of his hands. “How the fuck do you do it?”
Mechaman sighs, deep, disappointed. He leans back, taking his whiskey with him.
The rest of the Brave Brigade was downstairs, drinking in victory, dancing with the other heroes, celebrating.

He patrolled the streets of Los Angeles until his bones ached and his bank account died, clinging to a hero name that cost him everything except the stray dog who refused to leave him. But the cold in his veins was never normal. The frost on his glass, the way he never felt heat, the way fire bent strangely around him. They were inheritance. Old inheritance.
And the first person to recognize what he is? - Flambae. A pyrokinetic disaster with a wicked grin, a criminal record, and enough fire to melt steel, or warm someone who can’t feel heat at all.

Summary
The first Mecha Man to grace L.A. was titled Mecha Man Prime, being the first in the legacy of non-powered humans to make a difference as a hero. The second Mecha Man named himself Astral and made his debut in L.A. as the leader of a group of heroes.
Robert was supposed to be the third Mecha Man. His father would have wanted that for him, but disappointing his father isn't new to him anyway.
In Robert's defense, he had a very valid crash out after his dad was murdered a decade ago. In his opinion, this leads to his very reasonable agenda of hunting down the man who murdered him. It sucks, because it's his target is beloved by the entire damn State.
L.A.'s third Mecha Man, Elliot Connors.

Summary
It was hard to mourn a man who was hardly ever around, yet Robert still did. It’s even harder to mourn a man who was still alive, but Robert had never been one to fall into the given standards set up for him.
He tilts his head, and lets himself get one last look at the man before him. Almost predictably, Robert finds no remorse in those eyes. No guilt, nothing. It’s enough to crush that hurt down, to let the familiar anger that kept him going all those years guide his finger back, even as traitorous tears sting the corners of his eyes.

In one world, Telemachus turns from Antinous’s stilled fist to see a goddess. In this one, a bloodied spirit greets him instead, grin twisted. His faded toga is ripped, his skin underneath covered in grisly blunt-force wounds. His beard is wild, and his eyes even more so.
“What’s- What’s happening?” Telemachus stammers, stumbling backwards.

Those are for ambulances, Izuku dimly remembers. And police cars and fire trucks. Izuku always hopes it’s a fire truck, so he can go to the window and watch it zoom along the street below. He has one, in fact. A fire truck. It has a ladder you can move up and down. His mom got it for his birthday. It’s red and white, and the light on top flashes when you put the batteries in.
“Izuku! Where are you?”
Hands reach under him and turn him over. Big and gentle, lifting him off his back, into the air and out of the dirt. He’s folded against someone’s chest. They smell like cologne and smoke, heartbeat steady and slow against his ear. Slowly, Izuku blinks tears away and looks up. It’s a man. With half his face missing, so all that’s left is a smile. “Hello again,” he says and presses a kiss to Izuku’s hair.
Izuku, ears ringing and limbs weak, opens his mouth and screams.
