Summary

Tighnari was a cautious man. A simple botanist, running a simple florists’ in a simple town. Dark skin and red eyes lingered in his mind’s eye, but he did his best to bat the imagery away. He kept his head down, and he lived a simple life.
Cyno was far less cautious. He believed in justice, and he believed a simple life was a life of cowardice. If you could go through an unjust world with no altercations, you were part of the problem.
When DCI Xiao requests Tighnari's assistance, with a murder case involving strange flowers, the simple botanist nearly refuses. Nearly. Accepting, however, might bring more trouble than he bargained for...
Mystery after mystery litters the journey of our unlikely heroes. Who is the murderer? What is Cyno hiding? And what does Ancient Teyvat have to do with any of it?

Summary
A mass grave is discovered at the edge of the desert, and in it 20 corpses with strange circuitry-like marks on their skin, and masks fused to their faces – masks inscribed with a strange, nearly extinct language that can only be read by a dangerous, reclusive Eremite Tribe . . . and, inexplicably, by Alhaitham.
Perhaps he should be more bothered by the fact that he never actually studied or learned this language than he is, but as Alhaitham heads out to investigate the grave with Cyno, to learn what happened to these people, there are plenty more pressing problems to worry about. Assassins, betrayal, and ancient secrets plague them on their path to uncover a dangerous plot that threatens all of Sumeru, and suddenly it’s all they can do to survive. With allegiances shifting like the desert sands and primordial powers stirring, Cyno suddenly finds himself unsure of who can really be trusted, while Alhaitham . . . Alhaitham finds himself in a fight for his very soul . . .
