    “So,” Kokichi started, inspecting his fingernails from where he sat on a table, legs crossed. “You’re telling me that you’re trapped in a time loop.”

    “Yes,” Shuichi replied, eyes serious.

    “And you’re telling me,” Kokichi continued, carefully keeping his expression impassive, “that I told you to tell me to help you. Or something like that,” he added with a sigh. I don’t believe this.

    Still, he could feel Shuichi’s heavy gaze on him, eyes boring into his soul. “Yes,” Shuichi repeated again. There was a slight pause, before Shuichi added, “Is that too confusing…? I know time is really hard to understand. I’ve been stuck for a while, and even I still don’t really know how to—”

    “Shuichi,” Kokichi deadpanned, glancing up from his hand to fix the other boy with a hard stare. “You sound like a lunatic.”

    The last thing Kokichi expects on what seems like a perfectly ordinary Wednesday is for Shuichi Saihara to crash into him and begin pleading for help, looking like death itself.

    No, actually… scratch that. The last thing Kokichi expects is for Shuichi Saihara to start insisting that he’s stuck in a time loop.

    “I don’t know,” Kokichi pretends to think it over, tapping a finger against his lips, “Maybe you’re plotting a crime against me right now.” Kokichi’s eyes narrow, and his gaze turns sly, “Maybe you’re trying to steal my heart!”

    Shuichi doesn’t understand it. These little pokes and prods in the direction of flirting. He knows he isn’t the only one reaching out. He’s watched Kokichi’s cheeks go pink and his head duck to hide it. The nicknames and brash declarations of love sound a little more honest sometimes, tinged with quiet affection. On Shuichi’s more generous days, he lets himself admit that the signs point to Kokichi wanting to reach out in the same way that Shuichi does.

    And yet, Kokichi pulls away. It’s frustrating.

    “And if I am?” It comes tumbling out of his mouth before Shuichi thinks better of it.

    Kokichi’s eyes widen, and his face goes carefully blank. The muscle in his jaw jumps when he clenches his teeth, and he swallows.

    “I’d say,” he murmurs, violet eyes flashing with something sharp and bright, “That you have to catch me first, Mr. Detective.”

    Then he’s gone.

    This fic takes place after the Hosu arc and skips straight to the kids moving into the dorm. This is my fun little interim AU wherein the kids get to deal with their emotional baggage and interpersonal drama without having to actively fight for their lives, at least for a little while. Sweater Weather is 100% a self indulgent comfort fic, diving right into all the classic tropes of mutual pining and hurt/comfort. It started off as a series of one-shots, but as the chapters go it becomes more detailed and cohesive. I hope it makes you feel cozy!

At first, it seems like simple physical lust, but the attraction towards Saihara's oral cavity transformations into attraction towards Saihara's voice, words, reactions, thoughts, and, eventually, Saihara's entire being. As Ouma continues talking to the detective, he becomes more attached. Ouma worries as his fondness for Saihara grows, more of his precious secrets will spill and the mask he has worked to hard to maintain will shatter, leaving him vulnerable for Saihara to hurt.

    He can't help himself though. Not only is Saihara's mouth irresistible, everything else is too. Ouma knows the captivating detective will be the death of him. This is more than a simple mouth kink. He's not sure if he's ready to get this physically and emotionally close to someone, but temptation isn't giving him a choice.
