Summary
Spock is a Vulcan, and therefore does not believe in luck. Luck is a human idea constructed in order to provide comfort for outcomes and coincidences beyond one's control. He prefers the concrete knowledge of genuine odds calculation.
However, his acquiring of not only one but two lovers who enjoy allowing him to fulfil his most lurid fantasies does seem to defy even the most generous interpretation of the odds.

Jack’s voice cuts through his daydreaming. “Y’know, I always say you’ve never really listened to a band unless you’ve seen them live—” A buzz as his pager goes off. “Shit—gotta go.” He points at Trinity, addressing her as he says, “Stay away from sharp objects, the only time I wanna see you in here is when you’re being paid for it.” As he exits the room, he brushes a hand gently on Dennis’s shoulder, over the soft fabric of Robby’s shirt. “See you around, kid.”
The door shuts softly behind him and Trinity and Dennis both immediately start talking:
“Dr. Abbot’s kind of more of a dick than I thought he was—”
“Do you think it’s fucked up if I think my boyfriend’s best friend is hot—”

There’s a burst of air conditioning when the automatic door slides open and an electronic bell sound goes off to alert the employees of their arrival. Jack responds to the welcome with a slight smile and a nod, saying something about how they’re just browsing, but thanks before guiding Dennis towards the back corner of the store where the wall is covered in an array of colorful dog collars.
Dennis sends a silent thank you out into the universe once he sees how tucked away and hidden the section is in this store.
The embarrassment and shame from earlier have started to be replaced with a nervous excitement. He lets himself reach out, running a hand over the nylon material of the collars and watching them sway on their pegs from the touch. He worries his lip, overwhelmed by how many options there are. Which one did he want? What was right for him?
