“Shouldn’t you be heading home now, kid?” Stan asked gruffly, raising an eyebrow.
Soos looked up from organizing his (new!) toolbox. He shrugged, “My Abuelita knows where I am.”
Stan leaned hard against the gift shop counter as he counted that day’s earnings. He sighed, “Nah, I meant, like, your dad or mom. They won’t be callin’ the cops or something?”
A strangled expression crossed Soos’ face, which is weird because so far, the past few weeks of knowing him, he had been a complete ray of sunshine. He looked down and picked up a screw, fiddling with it idly, “I, um, don’t have a dad, Mr. Pines.”

Summary
In a post-Upside Down world, the Party is making the best of college life and learning to leave their troubles behind. However, despite all the good that's come his way, Mike still struggles to let go. He and his friends are no longer in danger, his family is safe, and he and Will are enjoying their blossoming romance, yet he can't sleep at night. He feels lost in a world where he no longer has to brandish himself with his sword. He feels useless to his friends as they deal with everyday life and wonders what the point is in his existence anymore.
Mike is a young man struggling, yet he refuses to say anything. The pressure and the stress is bubbling over, but he swallows it back. He's still a leader, and a good leader carries the burden of his people, no matter how badly he's crumbling on the inside.
This a comic about Mike Wheeler struggling to adjust to normal life after spending his youth fighting an interdimensional war.
