The first time he takes a drink from her water bottle, though, she moves so fast she stuns him a bit with the speed and force she slaps it out of his hand. For the briefest moment, he thinks she’s fucking with him, but then he sees the wide-eyed, genuine terror written clearly on her face.
“Spit it out!” She demands, even reaching up to squeeze his face to try and force him.
He bats her away, but she pursues, and he shoves her out of the way to spit it on the ground, giving her a look like she’s lost her goddamn mind, which he thinks she might have.
“What’s wrong?” He demands, holding her by the shoulders because she looks about ready to vibrate out of her damn skin. He saw her drinking out of the water bottle an hour ago, so it’s not like she’s filled it with poison, and she’s eaten after him more than once because she’s a little thief and thinks she’s funny, so he knows it’s not about sharing his germs.
(being patient zero for immunity comes with some unanswered questions)
