“Good morning.”
Itachi blinked several times, lips parted for a shaky exhale that reminded him he had survived, that the world around him was very real, that Sasuke was very real. He quietly echoed the greeting, adding a small bow of his head. They’d spent enough years apart that he didn’t know how to handle Sasuke anymore. They’d both changed, evolved into people they weren’t necessarily proud to be. He had questions, but they died on his lips, inconsequential things that neither of them needed to discuss. He was alive, and he could surmise how his sight had been returned to him. More than likely, Sasuke had somehow exchanged their eyes. Why the boy chose to save him left him confused, mixing well with the fact that he wasn’t as grateful as he should have been. Some men simply wanted to die, and he was one of them.

Summary
One month following a failed suicide attempt, a 15-year old boy reluctantly returns to his life prior to his stay in the hospital. It feels like he’s been waiting for the subway to come pick him up for an unusually long time… But he doesn’t think much of it at the time. Once the carriages slow on the tracks and people file in, the boy steps onto carriage 3807 and settles in for his trip home.
In the next train car over, a regressor stares at nothing, awaiting the paid service to begin again. After having lived through this false crisis innumerable times already, he can estimate the exact moment that this world will be plunged into hell once more.
This will be the last time. He will be the most brutal and cruel version of himself, if that's what the story demands in order to end it.
