Summary
What if, instead of Whitaker, Javadi had been the one to find Ogilvie in the ambulance bay after his triple A patient died?
Javadi and Ogilvie share a strangely vulnerable moment outside the ED, bonding over the weight of expectations in their parental relationships. Over the next couple weeks, they refuse to talk about it and instead argue over the smallest of details, struggling to work together. As they go their separate ways, they stay in touch through the rest of their time in med school, their residencies, and even their first jobs after residencies. Javadi and Ogilvie move in and out of each others' lives for years, never failing to piss each other off and compete about anything and everything. Will they ever be more? Or will they always just be two people who can't stand each other?

Summary
Following their reunion at the All-Stars Game in Tampa, Shane can't help but throw a smile back at Ilya on the ice at their next match-up, despite all his reservations and the voice in the back of his mind telling him it was too risky. If only Shane had been more careful, because then he wouldn't be in the hospital and Ilya wouldn't be thinking about the day he found his mother dead. Throughout the night and the next morning, Ilya is consumed by flashbacks to that day and all the what-ifs of Shane's injury: What if Shane never moves? What if Shane never wakes up? What if Shane suffers the same fate as Ilya's mother? What if Ilya has to suffer another loss so soon? What if Ilya has to go through that grief all over again?
Or: Seeing Shane injured on the ice triggers Ilya's PTSD from finding his mother after she took her life. Ilya dissociates the rest of the night, hounded by PTSD flashbacks of his mother's death.

Summary
It wasn’t his first hockey fight, not by far. After decades of playing, it was impossible to avoid the occasional scrum. It just wasn’t something that Shane purposefully tried to get involved in. He wasn’t like Ilya, he didn’t find joy in pushing and prodding at the other team until one of them snapped and threw a punch. When a scrum did break out, he hardly ever joined the fray, preferring instead to focus on managing the refs and trying to get his team out of the fight with as few penalties as possible.
When Shane’s fist connected with Comeau’s cheekbone, Shane grinned.
--
Or, the moment Shane realized he played his last game as a Montreal Metro and has to come to terms with everything that means after. Featuring Shane realizing he's not as okay as he seems, and Ilya trying to figure out how he can help.

Summary
Ilya Rozanov's life takes an unexpected turn when a deadly plane crash in 2021 takes his life, right after a fight with his long-time partner, Shane Hollander. Though instead of the afterlife, Ilya is sent back to December 2008, just before his NHL career began, on the very day that he first met Shane. He finds himself in a familiar world, with knowledge of both the future and knowledge of the man he loves and the friends he holds dear.
As Ilya navigates this new reality, he rebuilds his relationship with Shane, who is still finding his path in both hockey and his identity as a gay man. With their rivalry blossoming into a different experience than the one Ilya experienced the first time around, the two face challenges around acceptance, family pressures, and the struggles of being openly gay and lovers in the sports world. Throughout their journey, Ilya contemplates his first life, cherishes the present, and strives to alter the course of their futures (and the futures of their friends) for the better.
Or, Ilya Rozanov discovers first hand what the butterfly effect is, and how it can drastically alter the future.

Summary
“What happened to your hands?”
Ilya pulled his hand gingerly out of Shane’s grip, planning to tuck them both under his thighs where Shane couldn’t see, but Shane caught him again despite his disorientation, as if drawn to Ilya’s skin by a magnet. He blinked his huge, dark, bottomless eyes at Ilya as a heavy silence filled the space, and Ilya felt like he was standing on the edge of a cliff, being pulled forward over the precipice with nothing to grab onto.
“It looks like you hit someone.”
—
Alternate ending for the club scene from episode 4.
What if Shane had stayed to drink away his feelings and talk to a new friend instead of leaving with Rose? What if Ilya was the only one who could protect him from the fallout?
