- megumi and miki get worried and scared cuz satoru hasnt been home for a rly long time.. miki starts crying and the two go to jtech to find saturo and 'beat' him up.. meeting nanami yaga shoko.. turns out saturo was hospitalised (in infirmary)

It stood to reason that once Gojo returned, all of their problems would vanish. He would stroll out of the Prison Realm like he was late to a meeting, and every foul thing that wasn't decimated on sight would would slink back into the shadows forever.
But the man they pulled from that box wasn’t the same one who’d gone in, and the whole world knew it.

-Because everything that had gone wrong, everything that had unraveled since Shibuya, had started with that damned box. The chaos, the deaths, the losses they were still trying to crawl out from under, it all traced back to the damned thing. And now, hearing that it not only hadn’t ended when Gojo stepped out of it, but that it had followed him here, made Yuuji’s feel sick.
Across the room, Yuuta’s arms crossed tighter over his chest, jaw clenched hard enough to flex the muscle in his cheek. He didn’t speak, but his stare was sharp, focused on the floor. It wasn’t shock on his face. It was anger. Quiet, cold, and personal.
Gojo said nothing.
And perhaps that was the worst part. There was no joke, no quip. Just silence. Like he already knew. Like some part of him had just been waiting for someone to confirm it.
“It's like your system still thinks you’re locked up,” Shoko continued on after a beat, "and now that the power’s back, it has nowhere to go. That’s why you can’t regulate your energy, why you’re bleeding power just trying to stay awake. You’re running full capacity with no output because it's fused into your soul like scar tissue and sealed everything off.”
Nearby, the hilt of Yuuta's katana creaked beneath the pressure of his fist.
“The only reason you’re not catatonic or worse is because you’re a freak of nature who never plays by normal rules," she concluded with a sharp exhale. "And hell if I know why that always works in your favor."
Yuuji's hands balled at his sides as he watched his sensei closely. The thought that the very thing designed to dethrone and imprison Gojo was now buried inside him, leeching off him like a parasite, made Yuuji’s stomach turn. After everything he’d survived, after finally getting out, the idea that he still wasn’t free felt cruel beyond reason. Yuuji couldn’t imagine what that must've felt like.- The idea that he might not be able to take this, that he might break before they ever reached the battlefield, settled cold and hard.
If Gojo fell tonight, Fushiguro was gone.
And that possibility was feeling more and more real the longer Yuuji looked at him.
“You know, Yuuji,” Gojo exhaled, long and quiet, like maybe he could feel Yuuji thinking it. “It might surprise you to learn that I’m not as noble as I come across.”
Yuuji cut him a sideways look, one brow arching up.
“Shocking, I know," he continued without missing a beat. "I mean, I'm not a total soulless monster... yet. We'll see how tonight goes, at any rate... I know I need to make up for what happened in Shibuya. But beyond that?" He shrugged. “I’ve never really seen myself as the kind of guy who lays it all down for the greater good just because it’s the right thing to do.”
His gaze drifted out toward the trees, distant.
“Megumi’s like that, though. He doesn’t even think about it. He just does it. Because that's who he is, the little idiot." He exhaled, smiling faintly. “I'll never be as selfless as he is. I don't give much of a shit about the world anymore," he admitted, though he didn't sound remorseful about it.
Then, something shifted.
"I’m doing this because it's Megumi," he said, his hands balling briefly into fists. "That's my little idiot being worn around like a puppet right now, and I'll do whatever it takes to get him back. Whatever it takes. No question."-“Hold him steady. Both of you."
Yuuji blinked, like maybe he’d misheard her.
Like maybe she hadn’t just told two people who weren’t suicidal to physically restrain Gojo Satoru. One didn’t just hold down the strongest sorcerer alive, no matter what state he was in. That was the kind of thing people died trying. -

It didn't create the paleness of his skin, the sweat from his brow, and the tiredness of his eyes. It didn't cause him to collapse, too weak to hold himself up.

“Gojo-sensei was the one who hurt you. ” Fushiguro continued on, worry and irritance lacing his voice as he distinctly shot Gojo a glare at for outburst.
“Ah, sorry about that Yuuji-kun!” Gojo heartily apologised, raising a single hand as his half bowed. “No hard feelings right?”
The words were light and carefree, yet Yuuji could hear the implication nonetheless.
You understand why I did what I did.

“Of course!” He grinned happily, disregarding the way Fushiguro berated him for his easy going acceptance and scolded Gojo for his careless words. Gojo was smiling at him pleasantly, the gratitude in his stance evident to Yuuji’s mind, because now it was obvious. If the choice ever arose again between Yuuji and Fushiguro — He knew exactly who Gojo would pick.
And not once would Yuuji ever blame him for it.
It was sort of comforting, knowing that there was someone out there who would be able to stop him before he did anything to harm the people he loved. Even though it was Gojo, his dearest Sensei, who was the one who had grown so ready to kill him at that moment, Yuuji could not bring himself to find any animosity towards the man.
It was an instinct to protect, Yuuji could understand it.
It’s nothing more than a conflict of interest.
His precious student or his precious child?
The boy he taught and cared for daily or the treasure whom he had raised carefully with every fibre of his being?
How could Yuuji possibly grow upset at such an action when even to him it was clear as day what the choice would be? It was an ultimatum that most parents would hardly hesitate in making.

Summary
Suguru begins to wonder if it’s lonely for Gojo. Keeping an inch between him and the world.
Not an inch, a voice that sounds suspiciously like Shoko reminds him. Infinity.
But does it feel like infinity? When summer’s humidity swells to its peak, can Gojo feel the pressure? When a barrage of low-level curses ambushes them in Roppongi, can he sense their velocity, the twist of the wind? When Suguru grazes the immovable space between them – hands him a test paper, shoulders past him in the corridor, reaches out, unthinking, to slap him on the back – does Gojo know the warmth of Suguru's skin?
Then, on July 12th, in a sour-smelling alley in Katsushika ward, Suguru catches him. Hunched over, spindly legs crouched, a street-worn cat pressing her nose to his fingertips. It licks her sandpaper tongue over his knuckles. Rubs the flat of her forehead against his palm. Gojo hums, pushing a tangled cowlick back with his thumb, a serene little smile on his face.
Yes, Suguru thinks. It must be lonely.
(Trauma is complicated, brains are strange, and Satoru Gojo is not immune to either of these truths.)

"But Suguru isn’t the grand gesture type. Satoru is sure a gift’s expense means very little to him. He’s from Higashinaruse village; it has mountains and fireflies and parents who try their best. They gave him small things, priceless things. They gave themselves most of all." I can't even explain this one but it made me pause for a moment to process this cuz wow. So soft and simple and beautifully insightful.

Omg yes satoru finally grasping that it is not a transaction but loveee..so important..🤌🤌
