Summary
The thing is, David’s pretty sure the kid’s living in a car. Or a motel, or something. Things aren’t good; he’s sure of that. He’s not the most observant guy, and he’s kind of shocked Yuna and Shane seem completely oblivious. Ilya’s twelve years old and wears a sweatshirt that hugs his shoulders far too tight, jeans that ride up past his ankles. He grimaces every time he has to force his feet into his shoes, clearly also too small. He absolutely, patently refuses to be driven home, and Irina never picks him up. He says he doesn’t know his mother’s phone number when Yuna asks for it; David suspects she doesn’t have one. And Ilya completely shuts down when someone mentions joining a hockey team.
Ilya and Irina find themselves in Ottawa in 2003. Or more accurately, the Hollanders find them, and never seem to let go.

“Shane let out an amused exhale, making a puff of wind that took longer to disappear than he would have expected. ‘Anyways, I– I should go. They're waiting for me. But, um, good luck in the tournament.’ His words came out a little odd, and he found himself more off-kilter than he had been in a while. He wasn’t exactly sure why.
‘You will not be so nice when we beat you,’ Rozanov replied, a smirk on his face.
‘That's not happening,’ Shane responded, finally in his element. Small talk wasn’t his forte, but he knew how to respond to trash talk. He knew who he was, and an easy chirp wouldn’t change that.
They shook hands again, and Ilya’s smirk became something more of a grin. ‘See you in final.’”

Basically a very self-indulgent fic about how hard it would be for Ilya to actually move on from the pain of the past and to go no contact with his family in a timeline where Grigori is still alive. Also, Ilya deserves to be known and loved by more people than just Shane and Sveta. Forced/Found Family here we come.

Summary
Rozanov's so… professional. He's all grown up and not at all like the boy he once was. The polite smile never leaves his face even when he's looking at Shane.
"You are very lucky," Rozanov tells him, "That your concussion is only mild. Seeing me is a not so good thing, okay?"
Shane sighs through his nose, pouts. "Yeah… okay. But… I haven't seen you in a million years. Why are you a doctor now? You should be playing hockey—" He wiggles a little, grins sideways— "With me."

or, after wondering what happened to Ilya after the NHL draft, Shane discovers he's been in Montreal the whole time, and more than that, is an entire doctor instead of the hockey player he should've become.
