Summary
Randy blinks owlishly. The image stays the same.
Long, white beard. A red hat with a little ball at the end, a rounded gut wrapped in a matching red velvet coat. He looks wrong out here, a bright stab of color on a drab background, like blood against the slushy, gray snow.
And then Santa tucks his beard under his chin and lights a cigarette.

Summary
“Hey,” Liam whispers, like he knows. Like he’s reading the dread etched into Theo’s expression. “I’m alright.”
He threads a hand into the hair at the base of Theo’s neck. He’s soupy-eyed, a remnant of the obligatory pain meds after being wholly torn apart and put back together, but his warm palm against Theo’s skin is a passable imitation of someone who's okay.
(Theo knows, but will not admit aloud, that if things were reversed he would’ve been the bullet jumper. He didn’t need a bodyguard, said he could take his own bullets, said the best way to protect each other was by protecting themselves. Tonight he walked away with the equivalent of a paper cut wishing it was a stab wound. Maybe that would’ve protected Liam more. They’re both willfully dense when danger threatens something they hold dear.)

Summary
These are things Max can still tell about George, like how he’s lost weight because his agency is a fucking prison and Max is no longer there to tell them to fuck off. Or how despite his tailored suits and white teeth, George is a needy loser who cries too easily and likes picking fights with Max despite it.
