Jon stopped, stiffening. “Mm hrmh mm mmh hm,” he said defensively.
“You really can’t hold a tune, can you, boss?”

It was just an ordinary walk to a restaurant. Tim had insisted that if they were going to talk, there would be no tape recorders or weird Archives ghosts listening in. A bit of fresh air wouldn’t kill him, Tim had said. What could go wrong?
By the time Jon spots the white delivery van, it’s much too late.
The Stranger kidnaps Jon. Tim comes along for the ride.

Shota sneers at the teenager across from him. His defense raises like the hairs on the back of his neck as he glares steadily, ready and waiting for whatever will come from this encounter. He narrows his gaze when the teen shifts; just the thought of sharing this rooftop with Japan's most notorious villain makes his skin prickle. “Deku.”
“Y-yes!” the teenager cries out in relief, taking a small step towards Shota, “I’m Deku! I’m so g-glad you—”
“Deku,” Shota growls darkly, flicking out his capture weapon hastily to snag the villain before he can make his move. He's quick to tug it taut, leaving no room for Deku to escape. “You’re under arrest.”
“I-I’m what?! W-wait!”
tl;dr
Hero Course student Izuku comes to the realization that he is definitely not where he's supposed to be.

“It’s pointless to worry about things you can’t change.” Shouta has a way of making simple sentiments feel earth-shattering. As if it’s a revelation capable of shaking the very fabric of existence. “I can’t change what happened at the training camp. But I can do something about you sitting out here alone looking like you’re expecting someone to die tomorrow. It’s weird, and it makes me think there’s something you’re not telling me.”
Toshinori has to remind himself that - for all Shouta knows about the inevitable end of All Might - the details of Nighteye’s vision remain a secret only he is privy to. No wonder Shouta is suspicious. None of Toshinori’s usual tactics to project a confident, unshakeable facade work on him. He’s been scarily observant from the day they met. In hindsight, it isn’t a surprise he’d figured out something was up. His conspicuous escape from the meeting room would’ve been obvious to anyone.
