It was a bustling night, like any other in the city of New York. The city lights reflected on the East River, making darkness never felt, as if the moon and silence were mere myths or fairy tales for children.
It was in this lively city that she woke up, near the banks of the East River, beneath the Brooklyn Bridge.
The young girl sat on the edge of the riverbank, glancing around. She had no idea where she was or who she might be.
It could be normal not to recognize anything around her because, deep down, she knew she didn’t belong there.
She sat there on the steps, taking in everything she saw and heard until the moon disappeared, giving way to the sun that illuminated the entire sky. That she recognized - the sun, the moon, the water.
