Summary
After everything they survived, Daotok thought a quiet trip with friends would be easy. Then he hears someone whisper his name at an old shrine, and the voice follows him home.
At first, it is only dreams. Cold fingers around his wrist. A woman crying behind mirrors. Missing minutes he cannot explain. But when Daotok begins waking in places he does not remember walking to, Arthit refuses to believe it is stress.
The answer comes from Khemjira and Pharan, married now and trying to live beyond the curse that once hunted Khem. Pharan recognizes the signs of an unfinished ritual, and Khem recognizes the look on Daotok’s face: the fear of being chosen by something no one else can see.
Together, their friends gather around them. But the ghost is only a symptom. Beneath the shrine, an old gate is waking, and it has found the easiest heart to call.
Daotok does not want to become a burden. Arthit does not know how to fight something he cannot touch. Khem and Pharan know exactly how dangerous love becomes when the supernatural starts taking names.

Arthit watches Faifa joke through discomfort and sees Daotok's old habit of hiding pain.
